Well I fell down the custom keyboard world.

and a good place for switches and keycaps tha can be recommended ?

Can't tell you because OCUK sells them but some companies that makes them and sell them are Novelkeys, PBTkeys, KBDfans. GMMK are what people consider Rolls Royce of keycaps, or at least they were, but personally I don't think they are worth it. They also use ABS plastics whereas I prefer PBT plastic which doesn't yellow over time and generally thicker.

One thing you got to be aware of is clones, like that SNES set, that was about £50 on sale, and there are lots of clones for like £30. I mean they work, but they also do somethiing slightly different, like colour slightly off, or the printing not centered and the gaps between keys once fitted isn't even. Little things. But this can also happen to real sets. You can sometimes find real sets sold for big discounts because of these printing errors.

last one for today..is Glorious GMMK Pro a good start point ?
or Glorious GMMK 2 65% Keyboard Barebone as a base ?

ocuk has good deals on both... shame only in black...but good prices..

They are okay, but so is Rainy 75, and the Lemonkey P1 Pro, which is a Keychron subbrand but its basically the same but cheaper?

rainy is on list as well. i think i've seen that video...
so in a nut shell..dont spend fortune for starter keyboard :)
thanks

Keyboards over £200 are mostly money on smaller batches (group buys), 1 offs runs, customisability, like the Keycult, Novelkeys makes them now. They are like from $500 before switches. Whilst I am sure it's better quality than a Keychron, the gap isn't as big as the price tag.

The lower end £100-150 stuff now are so good the difference is basically aesthetics in the vast majority of cases, with some exceptions like my Alice Duo, where there is basically nothing else like it, not for the money even.

Thanks Raymond.

Order has been placed last night.
If not for a permanent keyboard, hopefully for a base that can be later used to customize with key caps.
Will see how and if if I like it

Nice.

I am sure it will be a step up from whatever you are using, and even if it is not blowing you away, don't be disappointed because this will not be the last keyboard, the last set of switches or last set of keycaps you will get. To get to know what you like, you have to start somewhere. So to hit it bullseye first time is basically impossible. There are tiny subtle changes you can make that turns it from good to great.

Like for the longest time I thought I was a linear switch person, which by feel, I prefer it, but in the end I found my favourite switches so far to be a tactile one, but a mild tactile one - Nuphy Lemon Yellow. Something about it and its sound that i just love. I actually bought 2 sets of them.

But it doesn't stop me getting their Nuply Mint switches, the same housing but linear. Going to put these in my Alice Duo as an experiment. If I don't like it then I'll swap them with the Nuphy Lemon again.

im using logi mx s
Like the keyboard, click, backlight and battery that last forever.
but as i've set my other half a new station for her macbook with extra screen, she needs a keyboard...she likes the logi as shes using my pc for work as well...so my opportunity to try mechanical ;)
better me quiet and nice sound though..or i will be a dead man LOL
:cry: or buing another switches or keyboard ;)

The Nuphy 75 Air ISO UK is back in stock. So I ordered one to try  The discount code "THOCC" also still works for $10 off.

well...got this delivered this afternoon..

and i might not survive until tomorrow as it's "too loud" ....
it is deffo louder than mx s keys...

not sure what to do...love the looks... like the tocking...

could it be that my mechanical keyboard career was so short...

only saving grace can be silent switches...
jerrzi honey bean or maybe ttc frozen..
need to have a good google where to find best and test...
or seen your advise here :)

Will look in to silent switches.
As keys are more spread than on flat logi will need to see if I like that or do I need smaller keyboard.
Few options there

Got the Q6 HE coming tomorrow to replace my Q6 Max, same keyboard just TMR switches (Gateron Nebula) as I miss those from the K2HE. Sold my Q6 Max for £100 so offset against that a bit I guess.

I like that I can just export import my macros and mappings in Keychron Launcher too. Keyboards that heft like tanks are my favourite thing.
