No Ghost of Yotei thread?
Ok, I'll start.

So... I think I'm no good at games anymore.
Old father time may have finally caught up with me.
Sure I'm playing on Hard, but I'm really struggling to beat The Oni

Other than that.
Really having a bunch of fun riding around and 'stealth clearing' camps and just hanging out in ye olde Japan

I'm sure I'll get past The Oni at some point, but getting stuck on boss fights ain't fun and I just want go explore some more :(

Loving it too. 43 hours and in no hurry to finish it. Exploring each area fully before I move on to the next. Just playing on normal mode. Really beautiful game.

I kid you not, I just fought The Oni 50 times in a row and still didn't beat him.
Came close a few times but fluffed it up.

The most frustrating thing now is that I have fought him SO many times, I know every single attack pattern and what to do in each situation... but still can't string everything together for 5 straight minutes to get the win :(

What difficulty you playing on?

Playing on Hard.
Finally did it.
For those that don't know...
Blue Flash = Accurate/perfect parry needed
Red Flash = Un-blockable, need to dodge
Yellow Flash = Chance to disarm enemy with the correct counter

Not the prettiest battle, but I'll take the win

about 50 hours so far and only just gone to the north.. the Oni took me about an hour to kill on Hard... but i rushed to him pretty quick with not many upgrades... also some armours and your playstyle help a lot vs some bosses!

game is stunning on OLED on the pro & RT mode.. my GOTY so far but arc raiders out next week so that might change :D

I'm really tempted to get this but I never finished GoT (got bored and never went back to it) and I'm sort of over the open world style game format with endless fetch quests and filler.

Just not sure it will be for me. But it does look awesome in the videos :)

I've just finished it. All in just over 80 hours on normal difficulty. I'm 50 plus years and this has been one of the best games I've ever played. The Balders Gate 3 of its genre. A masterpiece.

Will commit more time to Yotei once I've finished a couple of other games I started just before its launch. September / October has been a busy period for game releases. But from what I've played thus far I have no complaints. Looks great !

Agreed. Looks absolutely stunning but I also got bored of the first. Shame. Will slash my way through Ninja Gaiden 4 in a weeks time instead

Couldn't disagree more

One of the best parts of Ghost of Tsushima for me was that the side stuff WASN'T just fetch quests and busy-work.
They all expanded on the story and filled out the world and gave different communities perspectives on the Mongol invasion.
It was never just randomly meeting a dude on the road who asked you to go kill 10 badgers for 'reasons' or something.

Still each to their own I guess :D

How does following a fox expand the world, picking the groups of words, cutting bamboo, going for a bath. Those were the bits I hated. The main story was great.

If you don't think being immersed in the culture and world and folklore and sensibilities of ancient Japan helped flesh out the world and make it more immersive for you, then... like I said... each to their own :)

Have you picked up the weapon that counters his? I.e the big sword like his?

Edit - I saw you beat him.

Just completed it,I struggled a bit with the end boss and I think after so many attempts it gives you helping hand just to see the story out.
Cracking game all round. Really good story, visually stunning rewarding game play, the larger battles in particular are so much fun. Few things to tie up, so maybe dive back in soon.
