Got a 9800x3d coming tomorrow upgrading from the 7700x

I'm guessing it's not a simple remove and replace will a cmos reset be needing after replacement

Been ages since ive done a cpu upgrade
Can I ask where people are getting 5800X3D's from, are they all second hand now?

Edit - please obviously don't name competitors, the question is really are they only available in the second hand market?

Edit I have completely missed read this in a no coffee yet state, sorry lol

Be good to know if you notice much of a temperature difference during normal use on Windows and in games. As I was saying, the 7700x and 9700x looked hotter than the 9800X3D in the videos I was finding.

Idle temps are higher 47c compared to 40c but under load with an undervolt the temps are lower very rarely see a above 60c average is 55c compared to 75c

This is air cooled

I upgraded from a 7800X3D to a 9800X3D. Temps are lower and it doesn't spike into the mid 80s like my 7800X3D did!

Thanks, decided either will be fine. 9700x in stock 65W mode should be perfect and can always increase PPT using PBO if I've more headroom than I thought. If I'm feeling fancy, a secondhand 9800X3D would be be great, and a mild reduction in PPT is possible if required.
