NFL 2024 season

After seeing the title of the highlights "Bears and Commanders play out a thriller" I didn't expect the Bears to come out on top.

Da Bears!

Bit like last week that's a game we probably don't win last year. To go into a very good team's house and pull that off is impressive. We were messy and far from perfect. Caleb still making some inaccurate throws. But even so our post bye week record is 1-14 since 2011. We stink coming out of the bye. And for the team to come out with that much energy and make positive changes (mainly the OL, benefitting Swift who has gaps all night long). It's progress and that's all it is. I think both teams were messy and to an extent that's to be expected. One thing the highlights don't show is some of the questionable officiating decisions on both teams. Some momentum killers for the Bears. Albeit the Bears are still so sloppy on penalties.

However again it is a game where it's hard to not question some of those in the sporting media and the duality of how they view things. ESPN said Jayden Daniels fumble was 'mother nature'. Sure, harsh weather conditions all night, but Caleb didn't do that. Caleb didn't throw the interception. Reminds me of that Week 1 game a few seasons ago where we beat the Niners as the heavens opened at Soldier Field and never relented. 'Trey Lance was having to fight the elements'. Sure Jan.

Yeah I saw that there was seemingly a lot of stopped drives with the Bears having to kick FG's a lot. Side note - is Santos out injured?

Commentator bias is prevalent in every sport, I'd be embarrassed if it was me and someone put a collage out highlighting every time I opened my mouth in a bias way :D

As a Commanders fan, it's hard for me to not sound biased, but I felt we lost the game, more than you won it, if you know what I mean? As said, both teams were a bit messy, but we made 3 big mistakes. I think JD has been quite good at not turning over previously, so to lose the turnover battle 3-0 (I think?) and only lose on the last kick of the game... I mean, I guess I'm used to us losing 30-7 with that kind of turnover deficit.

Yeah, much as you might want to call some things out as random and unlucky, I don't think I'm a believer in that. That's an error, not a random occurrence.

Yea, muscle related. Did it in the Raiders game and struggled to finish. So must be quite bad not to be back even after the bye week. That said I'd be a bit worried because a lot of teams do change kickers now given the pressure they are under and the amount of missed kicks.

I felt the game says more about the Bears than the Commanders. We had the Odunze TD called back on a real 50:50 call, then the blocked FG. So we had the opportunity to be leading by more than we did and you got back into the game to take that 8pt lead. When we had momentum, particularly early on we didn't capitalise. Something we have done in a number of games; leave points on the field.

Not an advert for the game this is it? :o
That was one of the worst games I've ever seen, although after many pints in the stadium it was quite entertaining. Still had a great day out though, despite the actual football being poor. The Broncos fans made it feel more like their home game and it's always good to see the Jets lose!

Last time round we got tickets right in the end zone which was fantastic for the atmosphere and experience, but made it quite hard to work out what was actually happening. This time we were up on the side which made following the game so much easier.

Second Head Coach sacking of the 2025 Regular Season: Giants fire head coach Brian Daboll after 2-8 start to fourth season in New York

Normally I wouldn't take too much notice, but having watched the Bears play the Giants yesterday a few things struck me.

1.The 2025 Giants Coaching reminded me of us (Bears) last year.
2. That Darius Slayton grab in the 1st Quarter was amazing.
3. Jaxson Dart looks special. Although he gave me heart palpations every time he runs. God knows what it must feel like for Giants fans.

Da Bears!

Issues galore and very nearly let the Vikes do the double on us, but that was a bit of justice at the end. A better team would have run up a score. But still progress on the offense feels good. Some of the 12 personnel and the two TE's running around was a joy to watch in the 2nd/3rd quarter.

Don't know if anyone else is watching but some killer close games from the early slot. I thought the Giants - Jameis Winston play was the play of the day so far. Love the dance at the end.

As for the Bears, phew! Had the opportunity to kill the game and didn't. Again. Some good and some bad. At this point it feels like we've met any reasonable objectives for this first year under a new HC and it's quite a fun season so far.

Yes been watching, its my fav sport and September to Feb my work gets moved around so I can watch as much as I can

Bears doing great, Williams has been really good for me, minimal turnovers though one bad one today in his own endzone.

Jameis is always good for entertainment, brilliant the TD he scored from a pass.

Shame the Chiefs won, was hoping they would fall further behind

Myles Garrett, what a beast. 18 sacks is it now on the season with 6 games left. 5 more to break the record.

Shame he has been stuck on a poor side all his career, maybe should have gone through with his trade request and not taken the money, but guess it's hard not to in the NFL

Yea, I thought he might be gone in the the off-season. Maybe he'll go to a contender late on it the career, if the Browns don't turn a corner. Seems to be the way sometimes.

As an aside watched this short (13min) video on the Bills new stadium this morning. Very interesting as it reaffirms that trend in new stadia now, towards how it's no longer about the regular, every game going fan but the tourists who will spend thousands and not hundreds. And how that team from Wisconsin (spit...) is the only ones to have it right with fan ownership. Also apt as the current Bears ownership keep going playing the game for as much taxpayers money as possible for a new stadium. Will cost Chicagoans too it would seem.

Certainly something you are shielded from as an overseas fan.

I'm shocked (as probably the rest of the NFL and fans are) that the Bears are 8-3.
If Caleb Williams could improve his accuracy then those 3 losses might not have been and the 8 wins weren't so squeaky bum.lol

Playoffs are looking a good prospect at a minimum.
(Yeah I just jinxed it) :D

Whoa...hate to be that guy, but we currently have the lowest percentage of the top-8 in the NFC to make the playoffs at 61% (Packers & Lions both at 76%, Niners at 86%). Reality is someone between those four is likely to miss the cut and at the moment the projections have us as the ones missing out. Although many of these teams meet each other in the last six weeks so it's going to be a brutal finish for some NFC teams.

That said I do agree, it's been an insanely fun season so far. I think the shift in culture, the amazing turn-around in coaching at the different levels (so not just Ben Johnson, but Dennis Allen and Eric Bieniemy spring to mind) makes me think we are starting to put down foundations. Unfortunately though the offense is still a bit of a work-in-progress and the defense was short in certain areas even before we lost most of the starters to injury.

"Good, better, best..."

I won't lie, as the Bears were winning earlier on I would think 'wow, they keep getting lucky...', but there comes a point when you accept 'no, they're just a good team'. I'm not convinced the Bears are 8-3 good (like the Commanders weren't 12-5 good last year) I don't think they've beaten a proper play-off team yet? But, you can only beat who's put in front of you and the Bears have generally done that.

I think it's a really interesting season. There are a few teams you find yourself wondering 'are they that good?' (Patriots, Colts, Jags, Seahawks) or even 'are they actually bad now?' (Bills, Chiefs, Ravens). It could be a fun end to the season!

Oi! Cut that out we've beaten two .500 teams now....*if* you include the late Cowboy heroics! :p

In all seriousness I do agree and I don't think the Bears are a contender team this year, but equally I think when you go back to best case scenario at the start of the season it might have looked like this. Particularly when you factor in that 0-2 start. It feels like Caleb has taken clear steps forward, the offense is beyond functional and the culture has been changed. All of those 1st year head coaches you named; Steichen, Johnson & Vrabel have that in common so far.

What I think is happening in the NFC, is the play-off picture is clearing up quicker than the AFC. Outside of the Rams who truly look SB-ready, everyone else has question marks. There may be a scenario where a 10-win team doesn't make the play-offs. The four games the Bears have against the Lions, Packers (twice) and 49'ers are really going to be pivotal in tidying up the NFC play-off pictures and as much as I would love to think we can, those teams all have better rosters than we do.

Brilliant win by the Bears, just ran all over the Eagles. Brilliant chance of making playoffs now and winning the division too. Huge two games v the Packers coming up in the next 3 weeks with The Browns in between. Packers have The Broncos in between

All 4 underdog teams winning the Thanksgiving and Black Friday games which was good.

What a night! LFG!!! Da Bears!

RBs were wonderful, TEs impactful. And against what was a very good D until it tired out. And our D was better as well. Although the Eagles were terrible offensively in the first half.

I don't watch many Eagles games at LFF, but that home crowd tonight was pathetic. Might as well been an away game for them.

GOOD BETTER BEST!...
