So when training I get sick of the same protein powder after a few days on the trot.

Worse still is when ordering a large quantity, it turns out to be absolute disgusting (im looking at you myprotein banana).

So, to mix it up I decided to order as many different samples as I could find.

I'll use this thread to document each one and my personal opinion on how they are, absolutely scientific methods used here.

All except the clear wheys will be mixed with skimmed milk in a blender.

Day 1.

Per4m Whey - Sweet and Salty Popcorn
Mixes well. No lumps or thick bits. Smooth throughout the whole drink.
As its day 1, we will set this as the base line. 5/10.
The flavour is palatable, you can certainly pick up the subtle hints of popcorn, but its hard to pin down what exactly you are tasting, I guess id describe it like licking the inside of a popcorn tub where you might just get some residue or something without the full flavour of actual popcorn.
If offered wouldnt say no, but wouldnt be a first choice pick.

I found that they all taste quite bad but this was the one i liked most but i dont remember what flavours i tried since it was a long long time ago,
optimum nutrition gold standard

In a machine blender? Sad panda if so, as this means it's unlikely to reflect the vast majority of people's experience.

should be a shaker bottle ? that is what i used to use
Indeed brother. I do appreciate @kindai that you are doing this not to cater to paupers who slum it with shaker bottles, and my comment is not intended to detract from the selfless act of performing the selfless act of revealing your personal opinion. You do you and continue to ignore me, no one expects you to downgrade your mixing experience to appease the unwashed mob.

I've got a load of Protein i was trying to taste test too. But I'm really sensitive to artificial sweeteners. So most of it is going to end up in the bin.

Protein shaker pauper here. Best I’ve had so far is Myprotein chocolate peanut butter. Would be interested to know how it ranks on your league table.

Excellent initiative though!

I don't know if you want to add my reviews of the Beast Pharm Whey taster packs:

Chocolate Fudge 5/10
Vanilla 4/10 too sweet - and I usually like vanilla stuff
Strawberry Cheesecake 2/10 was definitely more cheesy than 'cheesecake' did not like this at all
Banoffee Pie - 5/10 - nice banana flavour
Jammy Biscuit - 7/10 - my favourite one. It tastes just like a jammy dodger.

I ordered a big tub of the Jammy biscuit and I like it.

I've since gotten tubs of ON Gold Standard Double Rich Chocolate. The macros are better, and for me the best thing is that it mixes so much better with just a shaker. With the Beast Pharm wheys I shake the crap out of it and it still has lumps in it. The ON stuff mixes so much better, the taste is great (like coco pops milk), it's got better macros, and buying it at costco it is cheaper.

Great value:

P.S. all my ratings are with water not milk.

You can even get shaker bottle sized blenders now designed to be used on the go :) https://www.amazon.co.uk/nutribullet-Portable-Blender-Navy-Go/dp/B0D265KTK9/

Same. I've never been able to find one that I actually liked the taste of, so I just avoid powders altogether now. I can't remember the name, but the last flavour I tried from MyProtein a couple years ago was just sickly sweet.

How safe is it to consume Protein powder that has gone past the best before date? How far have you guys pushed it?

My son uses this, doesn't complain about it. It does go in a blender though.

Irrelevant. Paging @Freefaller, still got that years old sandwich bag of whey knocking about? God I hope it's you or this will be weird.

:edit: I am not a protein powder or a doctor or a nutritionist so do not trust me.

Has it been sealed air tight. To be honest if it's kept dry it's probably ok. Longest I did was 6 months after never had any issues. But I have a love hate relationship with protein powders as many taste awful and don't mix well. Also lots add a lot of artificial sweetener and those that don't are frickin' expensive.

That said protein powders are fantastic at boosting protein intake. I have several a week (50g protein serving) and they have a time and place.

As someone who eats around 200g per day it does help to get a boost when I need it.

@kindai I'm going to be reading your reviews with interest. I tend to stick to protein works or my protein. But just basic flavours (chocolate mainly) just because it tastes least weird. I find the more "interesting" the flavour the more horrible it is.

Banana never belongs anywhere other than as the fruit and that's it!
