*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

It exists as a psuedo physical release in that its one of the Game code on a card type deals, at least from what I can tell online.

Judging by the that you should be able to treat it like a normal Game card in the sense of being able to pick it up used (as not account tied) with the caveat that it may lose its functionality in the future if the game is pulled from the servers.

Annoying though that it doesn't exist as just as a "proper" physical release that has the forced requirement to install it directly before playing (if streaming speed is the issue).

Is anyone able to confirm how well (or not) Star Wars Outlaws runs on the Switch 2?
It's a great port, fairly stable 30FPS throughout - I've finished the campaign and the two DLC packs. I played it docked but from what I tried/heard it's about as good in portable too.

The game already had a couple of updates recently that further iron out performance and tune up the visuals etc. It's getting a demo on Switch 2 soon too.

Fantastic looking game that took me by surprise, thoroughly enjoyed playing through it.

Yeah the Game Key Cards work the same as normal Carts, but with the download requirement. Outlaws requires 25GB, but is currently using 21.2GB for me.

It may be 20-30 years+ before the content ever becomes unavailable (assuming Nintendo doesn't go bust).

Thankfully we will have alternative means like with the Wii and Wii U store closing down.

Thanks for this. Great to hear it runs well and judging by the screenshots looks excellent given the sacrifices that likely had to be made to get it running. :)

Really tempted to pick it up now.

Yeah you can see where cutbacks have been made, but I'm still a little blown away each time I revisit the game on my wee Switch 2. Overall presentation and attention to detail in the game is great and raytracing really adds to some scenes in impactful ways.

I had a few crashes in my 60+ hours, but it autosaves very frequently so not a huge deal. Still, hopefully an upcoming update fixes that.

In terms of gameplay it doesn't achieve anything new despite having some interesting ideas to engage with, but I really like the feel of the game, it does a lot of things I really like and is a fairly streamlined experience. It's got me interested in Massive Entertainment's work and what they'll do next.

For now…
Yeah, for Wii the discontinue date is "TBD" and could be soon. For WiiU & 3DS, downloads will remain available for "the foreseeable future".

I have played it a bit using the Demo on PC and had also tried it back on launch with Ubisoft + one month offer (was super cheap for the first month from memory). I recall it has had a number of patches since launch to make the stealth / general gameplay feel much better. The Demo takes place in a completely different section of the game from the launch area thus can't compare.

I enjoyed what I played but I see it as more of a couch / 30 mins in bed before sleep sort of experience than sitting at my Desk on PC. I also like the idea of just taking it with me otherwise I would just get it on PS5 (Pro).

The updates for stealth were quite significant I think, many missions were forced stealth before but now it's optional for nearly all missions. I actually only recall a couple of early ones that were like 'don't get spotted'.
I enjoyed sneaking around those Imperial bases though!

Enemy encounters don't evolve too much throughout the game, my biggest criticism perhaps. I still found those encounters fun enough throughout though, blasting Storm Troopers (and others) doesn't really get old lol.

I played it in mostly long sessions, but yeah I can see it suiting shorter sessions too. Good number of secrets and stuff to stumble upon in the open areas as well, if you don't want to get stuck into the next quest.

It’s Nintendo. Never miss an opportunity to add a level and charge full price + an additional £10 for the "enhanced" version.
I still never got round to playing Wonder properly. Was waiting until my wife had finished before I played, but she lost interest. Feel like I’d be able to get through that one fast enough (as a non-completionist).

I just had a message from Microsoft saying I needed to verify my age to use adult features on the Xbox and I'm wondering if Nintendo will do the same thing at some point? I don't like doing it but I don't want to lose access to some services.

I suspect they may ask for age verification if you plan to use Game Chat.

Been playing a lot of Street fighter 6, my most played Switch 2 dedicated game and maybe my favourite Switch 2 game so far, though the only other Switch 2 dedicated games I have are Donkey Kong Bananza, MK World and No Man's Sky. It's a credit to how well that Switch 1 games run that I've picked up a couple of Switch 1 games too, Gundam Breakers 4 was on a massive sale and plays a lot nicer on Switch 2. Joins a long list of Switch 1 games with better performance on Switch 2 without even getting new patches, including cities Skylines, Panzer Dragoon, etc.

Obviously SF6 is terrible for most people on the standard joycon buttons, I usually use Pro Contoller 1, and with no Hori d-pad or equivalent out yet for Switch 2, I had to get these attachments for when I'm on the road not wanting to carry extra controllers. These simple mods actually work great and make the joycons much better for any fighting or retro game.

It's the Savage Raven d-pad set for Switch 2 and some generic joycon covers that make them much more durable and easier for bigger thumbs.

D-pad packs comes with a cross pad too and buttons, but by far the best option for fighters is the circle pad as attached in my image. It's stick on with very good adhesive stickers supplied, but can still be pried off easily and re-stuck down again. Comes with a pivot piece that just makes it worse, but without it it's amazing, just two stickers and the circle pad and you're good to go. A ripoff at £10 but arguably worth it, but the rubber covers can be found cheaper for a few quid for a multi pack.

All in all makes the joycons miles better for just over a tenner. Well worth the mod if you like fighting or retro games, gone from being unplayable to being able to pull off spinning piledrivers and dragon punches with ease. Basically turns it into a microswitch d-pad with great responsiveness.
