——The Official Battlefield 6 Thread——

So, a week in, what do I think : The gameplay is definitely improving into this week.

Last night I played quite a few matches.

The smaller maps and shorter modes (10min games) are defo just focus on getting and holding the objectives. Very little to zero opportunities for Support to revive, Engineers to repair vehicles, Recon to hold the rear cover sniping. Just rush around, hopefully as a team unit, focus on kills and obtain the objectives.

The Conquest mode is where the strategy and more intelligent gameplay is. These are the 20-40 minute matches, 24 to 64 players on the larger maps. A couple of games I was in very organised squads : 4-6 engineers repairing the tanks as we pushed through, several Support units (including me) purely focusing on dropping supply bags, correct use of smoke grenades, reviving our dead Engineers and Assault units and deploying the grenade intercept system. Many of us got zero kills but carried out our roles to win the games - Really enjoyable matches ! :)

I've also found the quick games, deathmatch etc.. are the way to level up your weapons quicker as these are kill focused, and the longer games is where you add significant points to challenges to level up XP, and unlock the skins and other gadgets.

Good squads are hard to find most of 3 other people running around on their own

playing with friends is my prefered option

There's an unbelievable amount of escalation games where you go 2–0 and then your team gives up and the enemy team goes on to win.

The weapon grind is a bit long. They need to sort that out really.
Yea grind is real. So are the challenges - 100 squad revives, 600 seconds contentsting escalation points, 30 kills with adrenaline booster, 30 headshots in one round.

All need toning down by 25% or so. I've rapidly stopped caring about them because just to long to achive.

And here I was wondering why I can't seem to enjoy air vehicles
well, this is probably not widely known yet, since vehicle modules are a mess
but immediate and constant beeping from painting and AA missiles is so frustrating. Cherry on top is this unavoidable instakill with infinite range

most vehicle modules not doing what they are supposed to or are useless

It’s being patched. They mentioned it in a tweet i just posted. Weapon attachments should take half the time now.

With the lack of maps, attachment issues, vehicle modules not working and the ridiculous level of grind included at launch to try and give it some longevity, it definitely feels like they've rushed this one out.

The good news is that they seem to be listening and resolving issues fairly quickly. The Season 1 launch can't come soon enough.

They key changes

Good to get this but feels like 4 years in development with several Beta tests should have identified this before the main release.
The Bot XP farms on Portal are being squashed as well.

So ive clocked up 40 hours now and having a love hate relationship with it but thankfully the meat of the game is excellent.
Gunplay is just superb when your not having bloom issues which as someone who mostly tap and burst fires it doesnt bother me too much but it is an issue and they seem to be listening.
My biggest issue is yet again with a Battlefield game are the maps normally its quality and map design but this time its too many small maps and not enough big maps.
In terms of game modes only Conquest and Escalation are worth bothering with as everything else is just a tacked on game mode that the maps just do not suit imho.
Overall it has issues but the foundation is rock solid , hopefully we get some good quality big maps too.

Westie sums up the pros and cons very well in this vid to be fair.

Anyone else suffering crashes? 2 friends I play with keep getting a random black screen after an hour or so of playing, complete video output loss. Lots online about it but none of the fixes seem to work.

Both running pretty new systems with recent installs of Windows 11, both using RTX 30XX cards.

I'm about 20 hours in now on my RX 9070 XT with no issues, it's been faultless. As a previous long term Nvidia user I never thought I'd see the day when an AMD card just works (past experiences have been terrible!) :D

I have a whole diatribe of thoughts on the game currently but I'll hold off posting until the next update lands and see where we are at.

Definitely there's some rushed elements to the game, but that's down to EA expecting return on investment quickly so fully testing wasn't completed and or rushed.

Maps are too small for Battlefield and cluttered, but as I've said before it'll be down to lack of server resources due to all calculations needed for destruction and hit reg etc so they had to shrink.

With a big project it can run away from you and it's hard to change course, which seems the case with a lot of the game. Currently I'd say it's a 7/10 with room for improvement and maybe the update will bring it to an 8/10.
