Arc Raiders

Cheers for the tip though I’ve uninstalled it now I met people at a bridge before I was even in a yellow zone at one point I’m sure.
Yeah people could be anywhere on the map but they will gravitate to the loot "zones", which is why its best to gear up elsewhere first. To correlate it to BF6 terms, you'd expect to run into more people around a flag point than you will on the edge of the map, the loot areas are like flag points :)

In the soirit of fairness given what a lot of other players had said about looting and extracting without much pvp, I played about 20 games so far, about half solo and half with squad mates both duo and trio with friends. About 50 of games I died, usually within about 60-90 seconds because everyone spawns around the outside and some people just run laterally around the outside of the map, so staying in low loot areas is not necessarily that safe. Extraction is satisfying when it goes your way or is close, but obviously just downright annoying other times, it's just a waste of running and looting for 10-15 minutes.

It was way more consistently fun with friends, we even managed to kill the big spider (not the queen) guarding one of the central hatches which was intense and fun and luckily not interrupted by other players. me and my friends talked it out and most of us don't reallly see us playing it solo and reckon coop will get sweaty, I'm on the fence if they all got it, but they're not really sold, it's same old mechanics but with a fresh coat of paint. The crafting and home base stuff and talent trees are nice, but the talents dont seem significant enough, and the crafting is honestly more annoying than anything. Having to recycle components but read a huge list of which are safe to do so and which you might need for crafting is annoying, they should have a "recycle all safe" button to just break down trash you dont need.

Even with loot mod the inventory of the bags seem small. We got and used a dam key to get into a loot room and it was honest very underwhelming i don't think we got a single epic or even purple. I don't think we got anything epic from the spider fight either despite looting it and all the legs.

What might save it is having different hardness maps in the final thing and a separation of player skill more. I did have fun/tense fights and extractions but those were the exception, and the solo play is way worse, you can't sneak about and loot you make too much unavoidable noise. Too many roaming solo players and sweats with crazy loadouts. I think most of the fun we had with player is that running into other people was way less frequent.

Bag definitely seems small compared to other BR or extraction type games, but the difference in this one specifically in regards to bag space / loot is you're supposed to salvage in raid vs in stash. Most things you can salvage you should be salvaging unless its a specific item you need, or its a valuable item thats worth selling.

Solo isn't bad - the matchmaking prioritises matching you with similar squad sizes. If you queue solo you'll mostly run into solos, but thats not a given so you should always expect there to be at least one more if you do encounter someone.

Problem is though is that some components you can break down actually have uses themselves so breaking them down may prevent you from crafting future things. So you have to go through your list and read the desriptions (whether in game or not) and see if they're "safe" to recycle. There should be a single button to do this, in game you don't have time to idle in one place doing it usually, and after the match it's tedious busywork. In fact I'm not gonna lie, the whole crafting system looks like tedius busywork. I sold a lot of my components in the end and just bought a shotgun from the weapons trader. For 15k, once I was selling entire stacks of materials I made a fair bit of cash from it.

The only thing that really make a difference is the efficiency on price, so what to break down or sell to get the max use out of the same gear, so you need to go through and calculate all that. Feels like a false economy, your reward for all that looting and crafting is just better guns to go fight with, so to justify that you have to be OK with just the fighting in the first place.

With snipers locked out of the stress test I think the final game will be way more campy especially snipers on the extraction points. Apparently players can get matchmaked solo vs groups its just rare when a lot are online, as the player count goes down after launch it worries me it wont be functionally playable solo.

Played a bit of the playtest and it seems to be very well optimised, was able to hit 75fps+ in the Epic GFX modes at 4K DLAA, DLSS Performance gets 150fps+ using the Transformer model as well. There is no RT reflections, only GI so naturally all water reflections are JANK as usual and looks seriously bad in a game world like this.

There is also a weird issue with mouse camera control, at times it feels too weak, then all of a sudden will be overly responsive. Cannot see if there is a raw mouse option either which is annoying.

As a game though I don't know if it's for me, seems pretty deep in the whole RPGish thing, but I think I don't have the patience for that any more.

Seems to use very little VRAM as well, under 5GB?!

I wouldnt say its different or innovating (aside from a few QoL things, like being able to rez other players, having unlimited access to a "scav" run rather than time limited, not having mandatory season wipes etc) , what it is though, is a whole lot of fun. Sometimes I dont need that new rollercoaster to be innovating, I just need it to be fun :)
Yes but if you have played the genre to death, for me it becomes boring and less fun. Like in battlefield 6. Already bored of that

Stop moaning about the loot.. your literally playing the tutorial map and everything is restricted...

It's like comparing this game with wow classic... Your still in Elwyn forest and expecting epics to drop from level 5 mobs

The trick with this is dont play hard, play smart. By playing smart, putting points into reducing noise when you move, reducing noise when breaching, reducing noise when looting etc (remember you can put more than 1 point in these skills), and avoiding major loot spots, use terrain wisely when moving, use headphones because the enhanced audio will save your life, dont hang around in a match the aim here isnt to last as long as possible in a match, the aim is to get in, fill your bag and get straight out. Dont be aiming to run about for 30mins trying to find better loot, get in, fill up, get out. Always have a target for what the runs aim will be, dont just enter a round and aimlessly wander about and when your intent is just a loot run, go in with a free loadout so that you dont lose anything. I can more times than not play a round, get loot and extract without even encountering another player.

It’s such a rush when trying to extract. I called a lift last night, and had to take out an Arc that was flying around and had spotted me in some undergrowth so naturally it made a lot of noise.
Lift arrived and I ran in, hit the switch and saw another player hiding in some undergrowth opposite to where I’d come in from. He was looking for me, but hadn’t seen me go in.
I was expecting a mad dash for the door and then that awful decision to either mow them down or let them in.

I probably would have let them in, but the whole time as solo feels like you’re on edge lol - not sure I’m up for that tension all the time

Check this out from 21:00 minutes onward on US servers, few solo players run into each other, proximity voice chat and agree to team up to fight the bigger drones. Maybe the Americans are just more sociable that they speak and team up than the angry Europeans :D

4k - 120fps - everything epic, DLSS with DLAA, 120fps solid (5090, locked at 120)... Very refreshing to have a game just work out the gate

I genuinely miss the online lobbies from when I lived on the west coast of the US, absolutely the lobbies are more interactive (in both good and bad senses of the word), but overall WAY more vocal and collaborative. I think in the EU, people stay more silent due to language barrier, it's a shame as it really is a big difference.

I've always found the same in MMOs too, the Americans seem way more sociable, I think maybe its because so many Americans are so outgoing/extrovert whereas a lot of Europeans are more inclined to being introvert (and then theres the language thing of course even though many Europeans speak English well....and better than many English people :D )

I’ve never had issues speaking to Europeans in any games I played. Even spoke to one in one of the 4 runs I did yesterday evening in this game.

Having said that, it actually just happened to me, I could hear a guys footsteps, he could clearly hear mine and from around the corner I heard him say Dont Shoot. He came round the corner, neither of us shot each other and we waved at each other and merrily went on our way :)

Which was just as well because I was carrying a sniper rifle blueprint on me at the time :)
