BMW and M Power Owners

I would scan your car with ISTA for free. But do you actually have any issues, or Carly is telling you that you have one

Well BMW did confirm the battery was under volting but it doesn't matter ATM as they won't do anything under warranty..

The car starts etc fine so no real issue ATM

I just wanted to keep an eye on the car more than anything during the warranty period which runs out march next year.

Thanks for.the offer

What does that even mean?

The whole point of a warranty is for piece of mind - i.e. you don't need to keep an eye on the car, because it's covered if anything does go wrong

What's everyone preferred satnav option?
BMW own or Google, Waze etc.

I've always used BMWs own but recently been messing around with android auto & have to say I am starting to prefer Google maps.

On a side note to this am I right in thinking if using Android auto, you can't use the built in Spotify app but need to run the phones app?

Waze. Speed camera warnings and reports, plus it integrates into the iDrive well.

I always use google maps. Recently the integration was enhanced and it shows some details on the dash/hud which makes it a little better.

I prefer the visuals of Waze but it doesn't have HUD integration like Google Maps/Apple Maps.

Haven't tried using built in Spotify app vs CarPlay - not sure if I've even got a suitable package on the car to use the built in app or anything. I got a 2 month trial of Connected Drive something but can't quite work out what I get :D map updates isn't included as they show another £79/year charge in the app (and the previous owner never updated so I have late 2020 maps on the dashboard)

I use the built in navigation. I find it just as good as any other system but it would need to be quite a lot worse before I stopped using it because I much prefer the way it integrates with the rest of the car - on the main instrument panel and also the head up display. Yes, you can get basic instructions in the head up display when using Apple Carplay or similar but they are not as detailed as those with the standard system.

I maintain the BMW connected drive subscription so I have real time traffic and I use the built in Spotify app which I find works really well.

It also has the added bonus that I don't need to plug a phone in every time I use the car. Yes, Android Auto is wireless, but it uses loads of battery and and the wireless charging pad in the 3 series isn't great.

It depends on the journey length. If I’m going a long way, Liverpool a few months ago, Sligo in Ireland, I’ll use the onboard nav. I like I can split screen with nav on the right side. If it’s a short journey I’ll just use my phone with spoken instructions from the phone.

They seem to change this all the time, when I renewed this time the price had gone up a bit but maps were now included.
Yea I'd read that there was a new bundle from last year which included map updates at £120/year-ish, which made it better value than the ConnectedDrive + Maps which were previously £79 + 89 or something like that. Guess I'll find out in a few weeks when my free trial from the dealer runs out.
