I'm sure someone can argue about that tape becoming debris at some point. Ridiculous amount of money for the fine but it's F1.
Id say the fine is fully justified, trying to remove tape to mess up another cars start position is just farcical from red bull, they should know better.

That is pretty pathetic from red bull, talk about childish behaviour!
It's hilarious! isnt Lando the only driver that needs a wall marker to be able to line up properly? And he wants to win a championship? Interesting.

Apparently quite a few have used them.

Still, red bull will explore every low to win, that's shown no let up with Horner leaving...

After Hungary, Max was 66/1 to win the title this year.. he's now favourite

Norris and Oscar are too amateur. Max would have won the WDC already in that car. He’ll garner a lot more respect if he wins this year. One has to wonder where McLaren’s pace has gone though, surely we’ll see it return in the final races, unless there has been a nerf behind closed doors that we are not aware of.

McLaren stopped with the updates.
Rebull etc haven't I believe.

At least we don’t have to hear him bleating on the pit wall at every race and acting the victim. But yes, so typical of RB.

It does seem odd that their pace dropped at exactly the same time Stella (or was it Zak) started saying that Max was absolutely in the championship still. At the same time I mean, not after we’ve seen the RB perform for two, three consecutive races. You wouldn’t have believe Oscar toiling away in fifth at the beginning of the year. He made zero impression all race. So odd.
Imagine explaining to your family that there won't be Christmas presents this year because of Papaya Rules.
Lando is only 14 points behind Oscar and given Oscar’s performance today it’d be nuts to give him priority at this stage. Also there was rumours his contract stated Lando couldn’t be given priority if he can still mathematically win the WDC.

Oh I agree that their behaviour is farcical, but it's RB and to be expected.

It's not the act of trying to remove the tape so much it is the fia rules they broke in re-entering the track after it had been cleared for the procession lap. The fia in fact has made no mention of any attempted removal of tape.
Thus more of a safety issue.

Piastri was quick / on the pace in the sprint quali. My suspicion is that they got the set up / repair wrong after his shunt and after being in parc ferme there wasn't much they could do to overcome it. Clearly the car itself wasn't slow based on what Norris demonstrated, assuming they both had the same parts.

Well yes they got fined for entering the track. But the point still stands as to why RB feel the need to resort to underhand tactics like that. Had Norris been over his marker that would be what a 10sec penalty? Could have quite the impact on the race.

That’s true. I just saw a headline saying how Stella came away feeling there were a lot of positives from the race, so perhaps he was alluding to that (I didn’t read it). After all, if Leclerc wasn’t so quick and excellent at defending Lando, it looked like Lando couldn’t have been fighting Max for the lead at his pace. Maybe.

I'm surprised teams are actually allowed to "modify" the track. Putting a marker on pit wall fair enough but sticking something to the surface should not be allowed.

Mclarens could easily win the Drivers Championship...but, i prefer Max to win myself....going to be heating up!!

It’s a weird one. Parking on a marker shouldn’t make or break someone’s race really. If it’s that hard for them to see the mark they should introduce an official mark on the wall or something.

Wasn’t there a race last year where Max called out Norris (or someone) over his marker? It was hard to spot if I recall - I wonder if RB were playing shenanigans with the tape marker then :o

Yes they got fined and the reason is because they went onto the track when they shouldn't and ignored instruction from the marshals. It is a safety issue and something the FIA take extremely seriously, hence the high fine.
The reasons why they went onto the track have nothing to do with the penalty incurred.
It was never a comment upon the alleged 'conspiracy'.
