Hey all,

I'm currently planning on treating myself to a new build. I'm looking to upgrade from my 3080 & 3700x to something capable of powering a 4k monitor.
I'm picking up a MSI MPG 272URX monitor so I'm trying to build with that in mind.

At the moment I'm thinking:
  • 9800x3d
  • Mobo TBC
  • 32Gb ram (maybe 64 gb?)
  • Porting over my 2tb Pcie 4 nvme
What I'm really struggling with is what GPU. I'm debating moving to team Red and picking up a 9070 XT but with the 5080 Super coming in the next few months I'm not sure if it's work hanging fire to my 3080 while I wait.

Could someone help me with which Mobo and Ram to go with / GPU recommendations?

Hi.

Memory.

32gb 6000mhz doesn't matter what cas it is as x3d chips don't care.

Mobo x870 if you want usb 4 or a b850 is enough for most but what size , matx ,ATX ?

Case wise I'm thinking a fractal North or a Corsair 400d so probably just stick with standard ATX

If you have a 3080, you should be pretty comfortable waiting, right? Unlikely the 5080 Super is going to be better value than a 9070 XT, but if you want the higher VRAM you'll need to wait for the Supers.

You need to answer the usb 4 question and budget ?

Any other preferences , WiFi, number of m2 slots, etc ?
WiFi 7 would be a bonus but I have a pcie card I can move from from my current built and update it to a 7 one later.

At least 2 nvme slots since I’ll be porting two over.

No real other preferences

yeah that’s what I’m thinking, I don’t really play a lot of intensive games (going to get bf6 though) but I can always run at a lower resolution in the mean time. I’m mainly going 4k oled for text quality.

edit: I suppose I can flog my 3080 to CEX and get £200 for it. So that would make a 9070Xt about £370

Oh that's cracking.

I think I'm gonna go for the Mobo, CPU and ram to begin with and hang fire until the 50 super series is out thank you
