EV general discussion

Was pretty sure the theme of the discussion was a ID3 and 58 vs 77 battery. The key discussion point being the 77 appears to degrade less

The 77 has recently changed to 79 for most of the MEB range but with fewer but larger cells. Probably a factor in the peak going to 185kW. (And needed for more current to the 210kW motor) One up in the buzz is 86 then can do 200kW. More cells. More charge on that extra module
AFAIK, the 77 kWh and 79 kWh packs have the same number of modules, and they're the same size too. VW still make and sell both too, which makes you wonder why the 79 exists. The larger pack/new modules are mostly used in the higher power models (IE, the GTX models), so it's possible they just have better discharge performance. I guess there's a chance that might also lead to better cycle life if they're a little more robust too, but time will tell on that.

Yeah I can’t find my original source so maybe right but 2kW has come from somewhere

All borns are 59 or 79 kWh now on the builder

That's pretty shocking dude, sorry to hear it. Keep kicking and screaming to anyone who will listen, good luck.

Cheers. Unfortunately nobody listening so hitting brick walls

Car dropped off to VW Guildford. They've advised me that the list is quite long, and may not be covered due to the time it would take to assess each item - VW won't want to fund the courtesy car that long.

Honestly couldn't make it up!

It’s not that simple, part of the deal (like Ovo anytime) is they will charge your car by the ready time you set.

That opens it up for you to take the pee is they can’t read the SOC of the car. A 70kwh car will take 10 hours to charge to full from empty.

So set your ready time for 4am and you tell Ocotpus your car is empty, that means octopus has to assign at least 10 hours of charging to charge the car otherwise the tariff fails, that’s 6pm.

They’ll have to make the tariff worse for everyone to stop this kind of gaming the system.

That’s before you consider the people who turn their chargers down to maximise the cheap rate.

I'm a Leaf with a Zappi. I have noticed they have been changing my charge % in their app based on historical usage.

That’s utterly diabolical.

Noticed the Renault 5's are now been offered on much cheaper PCH's than a month ago.

1+23's from £289 a month for 5k PA miles, however you can also get the Iconic 5 with 20k miles PA for £349. If you want a longer lease £235 on 1+47 for the Urban, so £11.3k for 4 years of use, or ~£2.8k per year.

It is, unfortunately it is also no surprise. I've been massively underwhelmed by VW, Seat and now Vauxhall over the last few years.

Seat was so bad I drove a 70 mile round trip to get my car serviced rather than deal with the garage that was on route to work. That only got service levels up from totally inept to average.

Toyota seems to be the outlier locally. They really look after my dad every visit and he's not exactly a prime customer. He bought his Avensis at a year old from an independent garage 8 years ago!

Hopefully independents will up their game with regards to EVs rather than fade out. Swanky (maybe an extra s in there...) showrooms and waiting areas aside the service you get from a decent independent garage is miles better than your average dealership.

From what you've posted sounds like a rattle the media/press cage as it is the only way you'll likely get the attention from VW warranted :(

Just got back from a neighbour who has the same car, same Zappi and same iGo but his car hasn't charged up two nights on the trot.
Anyway, it took a three reboots and head scratching before I saw his iGo App was set to 40% charge :)
He swears he hasn't touched it and his wife wouldn't know how to.
Worth remembering for the future.

Wife has just come to me and said she expected the car to have charged up at least a bit from 60%, I looked at the schedule and the iGo App was set to 40%.
I don't charge it and she definitely doesn't know how to change it in the App.
Weird that two of us in the same street with the same car and Zappi have had this happen.

Anybody else on iGo noticed if the App has changed their %?
