Arc Raiders

To people who have played the full game in the betas - is it just loot, shoot, repeat with better guns or is there a bit of a story too? Do the missions you do lead somewhere?

The missions are much the same as Tarkovs missions, they are designed to lead you from map to map. Ultimately though this is still an online competitive shooter and like almost all, if not all, online competitive shooters, the idea is to loot, level up, shoot, repeat with better guns and skills. Its not breaking the online shooter mould in that respect, although there is a "guiding" storyline, its by no means a narrative driven story based game, the storyline that there is, is really just a method to push you from map to map. For a shooter with more of a story to it, you'd have to opt for something single player like a Stalker 2 etc

Enjoyed Tech Test 2 a lot so didn't want to overplay the server slam this weekend - but the 3 hours or so I did play were enough to keep me convinced to buy the full release. Really enjoyable world/atmosphere/music.

I really like that the Arcs are something to fear, a lot of the time the 'AI' elements of extraction shooters or any AI in PvPvE are always such a non-factor.

I died so many times trying to do the kill 2 snitches quest, kept failing to finish the snitch off before it called in the 3 reinforcement drones and flew off into the sky. When you get 3 of those wasps on you its a very painful situation :D

Got it done in the end though, thanks to a passing stranger who helped out before healing me and trotting off on his way

Thanks. I imagine a lot of the fun will come from exploring the maps. Just need to convince my risk averse pals...

some maps haven't even been played yet but there are rumours of the tunnel map (Stella Montis) being very puzzle orientated and a lot of secret places to find and explore

Theres also the open map, Stella Artois where all the players get very angry and run around meleeing everyone

Anyone moved over from ABI to this? How does it compare?

I've watched a few videos and it looks kind of bland.
played a fair bit of ABI - wouldn't really be fair to compare it to the weekend stress test Arc just did but if one were to compare then yea, in comparison Arc has a lot less going on. but, as i posted previously, judge Arc on the full release. there was a shed load of 'stuff' missing from the server test from what i can tell/have read.

i'm probably leaning 60/40 towards this being 'better' than ABI purely because the world in Arc Raiders is so much more detailed and interesting. ABI is basically tarkov lite - and that's not knocking it, i really like ABI and Tarkov - whereas Arc is just that bit different. add to that the 'lore' and story are much more interesting compared to ABI (or even tarkov)

my only real dislike so far is the tpp viewpoint - does my nut in playing these types of game in tpp, but that's probably more to do with abi/tarkov and most the other games i play being fpp.

i'd strongly suggest taking a look at a twitch/youtube stream or 2 on release day to get a better idea of the game content - i know that's my plan. my appetite has been whetted enough with the 2 beta tests i farted about in that i'll most likely purchase release day +1.....assuming reviews are favourable and there's not been some sort of bait and switch or other shenanigans.

Different games. ABI is survival coop (I've never played it). This is an extraction shooters pvepvp.

I've not played ABI, but I took a look at this screenshot and thought, nope..not for me that. Thats too indepth for what I like these days, would have liked that 10 years ago but these days I appreciate the simpler things in life :D
