I was worried you’d turned to the dark side!

That’s a lot of work just to disable 1 ccd. I was hoping you could just keep all your settings and sort of errr disable it……

Thanks for the info!
Sadly not, bit of a faff, if I risk but worth 5 minutes setting it up IMO.

Think I’ll stick with option 2 and just use it as intended. I play at 4K and cap FPS at 240hz anyway.

Until tomorrow anyway, I have pictures of all bios settings :D
I only use the 1CCD setup for benching tbf. Daily all cores enabled using the config mentioned above.

The only thing with using this method is higher temps. If you use the bf6 config file method you can reduce the temps massively. Not the best for benching obviously but maybe the better option for daily use?

9950X3D2 with dual X3D cache CCD's coming soon apparently -

As most games don't even use 6 cores I'd hazard a guess and say it'll show gains in some things but not many compared to a "standard" 9950X3D.

Take my money :D

Finally amd doing the right thing

No need to run ****** scheduler software or disable half your cores

Probably going to be very close to a grand, If it's going to be a full production thing and not just a limited run I may get one and sell on my 9950X3D IF there's tangible performance gains.

Will be buying one day one just in case, mostly play mmo so hopefully best case scenario for them.

I would imagine the gains are tiny though as losses incurred over the IF but still better than going out to mem.

X3D2 is tempting, but I'm not feeling too held back by my 5950X yet.

Going to try to hold out for (hopefully) a 12/24 single CCD chip on AM6 (subject to change on release), that or a second hand 9950x3d if I see one cheap enough

It seems like AMD isn’t going to stop milking Zen 5 with this line up. The 9850X3D is also on the way.

Personally, I’d save my money for the Zen 6 10800X3D (10-core), which is reportedly scheduled for release in Q2–Q3 2026.

I’m not sure I’ll be able to resist. I have a ton of workloads where a pocket EPYC-X system would be amazballz. Minibeast workstation by day, master race fragging legend by night, sounds like the hero Gotham deserves.

Double the marketing plus 8%

Hi Guys/Girls. Can anyone tell me what idle temps are like on the 9950X3D when set to 65w eco mode? I know there are a lot of factors that effect the temp (case, heatsink etc). I'm just tring to get an idea of how cool I can get one of these to run when not on gaming duty. Cheers

Probably no different from default because the chip is only drawing 30-40W or so at idle depending on settings used.

It makes no difference, since it only changes the upper limits. My own CPU with air cooling idles* at about 55°C and 6W (as shown by the Adrenalin overlay) whether it's set to 65W, 105W, or left at the default. Curve Optimizer has an effect, but I never measured how much. Regardless, I don't think there's much benefit to lowering the idle temperature.

* Where "idle" means browsing the web, since I'm too impatient to sit doing nothing while waiting for the temperature to stabilize.

Mine always run a little toasty, it’s never under 52 degrees and 40-45w package power ; i have a good aio (arctic liquid pro 3) but the air flow on the case isn’t the best. And this is with all undervolt I can get away with, stock + was much worse
