Your bad driving encounters/irritations

I was getting a Pod Point installed last month and the technician was a guy called Tim from the south east of England. He was commenting how much lighter traffic jams are here and how he thinks it makes life so much less stressful here and people are just more relaxed about life. He laughed when I said that on the worst days it takes me 1 hour to drive 18 miles to work. “3 hours to move a few miles on the M6 is a regular occurrence” was his response.

I lived in South East London for a few years - the traffic could be insane some days - literally a few miles journey taking hours :(

EDIT: To be honest more the exception than the rule but it wasn't totally unusual for the ~11 miles to work taking 3-4 hours sometimes if you hit traffic wrong.

I've noticed people cutting the corners of junctions which is especially fun when you are pulling up to turn right.
There's a junction up the road from my house, as the traffic always backs up at peak times it's prime corner cutting territory.
On the way back from work I take pleasure in using every inch of my lane to turn right.
The disgusting looks I get when they bork there positioning to turn then have to readjust is fun.

This particular junction is really bad for it:

For some reason people think it's perfectly acceptable to drive in a straight line from the junction opposite (where the blue Panda is)!

I can just imagine it - unfortunately far too many people are lazy and stupid when it comes to that kind of context.

One of the worst I find is here:

People from the left just come around the corner about 75% on the wrong side of the road!

I nearly had a crash on way to work today. technically it would have been my fault. Morally it was the stupid driver in the other car imo.

I was going right at a round about. a car was entering the roundabout indicating left. They were to my right however and I should have read the road better as they were probably going too fast to take the exit they were indicating..... but I pulled out anyway due to their indicator.
They went straight on.... and didn't even slow down choosing to hit the horn instead.
Legally I guess I would have been at fault but it isn't rocket science to use indicators properly, generally twonks not using indicators at all I am used to but telling me they are turning left and then going straight on cheeses me off tbh.... (and then getting on the horn rather than slowing down was the icing on the cake for me)

Nice bit of drama at 1.30am this morning - woken up by a screeching tyres, followed by a massive bang and then a load of shouting and screaming.

Turns out a police chase ended rather dramatically just across the road when the fleeing driver took the corner too fast, bounced off the kerb and lost it into a parked car, then legged it into the back of a community centre, closely followed by a canine unit, and then screaming like a little girl when the dog got him!

Spoke to one of the officers to offer my CCTV (apparently he claimed not to be the driver, so hopefully it will prove useful), and he said one of the police units had a film crew with them, so maybe coming to a new episode of Police Interceptors soon :p

Unfortunately it was 3am by the time everything was cleared, so just about ticking over on too much caffeine at work today :(

I'll see you on Channel 5 soon ;)

And a nightmare for the innocent owner of the parked car, who will now see their premiums go up (which being Birmingham, is probably already £lol)

Yeah, they took the car they were chasing straight away - I assume for forensics to prove he was the driver (relatively new nice merc., so probably stolen), but the one they hit is still there, it's a relatively old Corsa, so almost certainly written off. It got bounced up the kerb and the front end is completely smashed up with the wheels pointing in different directions :(

Anyone else live in an area with parking that isn't marked out with spaces? It's nightmare by me as people are so inconsiderate :(

Last night 2 small cars were taking up the space of 4 vehicles, yet on other days you'll see the same 2 cars trying to squeeze into spaces because other people have done the same as them. If something inconveniences you, why also act that way??

It's so annoying

So I have received the payment of £561 from the guy that parked his car in to my rear bumper the other day, meaning that i can now take the car to the body shop on 8th nov, to have the scratches/scuffs and paint damage sorted.

Im glad i can now sort that without going through the insurance

Used to happen at my old house - people would "have" to park in "their" spot outside their house even if it meant leaving half a car size gaps and by the end of the evening there was enough unusable space you could have parked another 3-4 cars if it was combined, while the last 2-3 cars would end up parked awkwardly. Fortunately we had our own drive.

As this was being filmed by a film crew, I wonder if they captured the driver decamping from the car and whether that could be used to prove he was the driver? Obviously that would rely on the lead police car being on his tail at the time of decamp.

I've seen a recent episode of Police Interceptors where they even had a helicopter keeping eyes above during a chase, but as multiple occupants decamped from the vehicle and eventually captured with help from the chopper, they were still unable to prove who was driving apparently. And case was dismissed. Frustrating stuff.

Our old next door neighbour used to park his clapped out Picasso half and half in front of his and our house, despite having a car port and drive so that we'd struggle to park one of our cars without blocking our own drive (single space) which would mean that I'd have to faff moving one to get the other out at 3am when I went to work if I'd park mine on the drive.

PI once filmed in my village, they stopped a car under a 'county lines' sting. 4 occupants, all in possession of Class B plus a bootful, enough to keep Amsterdam's cafe's running for a short while.

End of the episode when they do the roundup - "No further action due to lack of evidence" for all 4 of the occupants. They caught them red-handed and the CPS dropped it.

I've no love for the police but to have such an open/shut case thrown because the CPS couldn't be bothered must be soul-destroying.
