Every country is to set up the following 12 team competition:
The currently best paid player’s home state, province, local authority area, region, police force area or prefecture gets 250 power points,
the 2nd player’s area of birth gets 249, and so on for all the top 245 players of the country (248, 247, 246, 245, 244, 243, ...).
Each area’s scores are added up and the areas are ranked.
Countries with more than 12 such areas (Brz, Ger, USA, Rus, Spa, Ita, Mex, ...) then have their top 11 areas in power points scores qualify and given a team of their own each,
with an “alliance team” entered to represent the best players from all other areas.
Countries with less than 12 areas (Aus, Bel, Aut, Por, ...) then have their top 7 areas qualify and given a team of their own each,
with an “alliance team” entered to represent the best players from all other areas.
Countries where the largest area has a population greater than the sum of the 2nd and 3rd combined (such as Arg, Eng, Brz, Pak & Tur)
have their largest area split into 9 remit areas,
applying a 3x3 tic tac toe grid, generating sector NW N NE W C E SW S & SE,
and the above power points system chooses the top 11 sectors or areas among the 9 + all other areas to qualify and the remainder gets a alliance team.
Or the local districts or boroughs may be used instead, and we might then grant the country’s top 19 or top 25 areas a team each,
with the remainder in the alliance of the lesser areas team.
The top 4 of these teams (as ranked in power points totals, so the alliance team may be one of these) play in Group 1 (where each team plays 3 opponents, 6 matches in total),
the teams seeded 5th to 8th in power points terms play in Group 2, and the teams seeded 9th to 12th in power points terms play in Group 3,
with the teams B1 and C1 promoted up a level from one year to the next, replacing the newly relegated teams A4 and B4..
This way we don’t waste out time watching a trillion idiotic Brazil versus San Marino one outcome possible games, so much better.
Timing of this event: To be scheduled so as not to interfere with the main parts of the country’s clubs season,
& best scheduled to occur the very next three weekends after the country has exited the world cup,
so that the best players the country has to offer are available to take part, and the front pages of the sports pages to really get into this,
as this may well be the best action the country will see all year long, and so maybe this should be given a devoted month every year.
