How far prior to departing for a holiday do you pack?

We tend to pack the day/night before. Talking to other people, some will start packing weeks before leaving. Myself, a perfectly normal person, am not capable of understanding this psychopath behaviour.

So enlighten me GD, who's nuts here?

I'm currently looking at sunshine holidays for me and the missus for February whilst sitting in my speedos! :p

I like to have everything set the day before, it minimises fussing about on the day of travel.
So, two days is the bare minimum and usually the bag is out three or four days before, so I have a chance to think about what will be good to take, and try different
packing arrangements.

Sensible answer, I literally start getting things together weeks before a trip, but I also know some regular travellers who pretty much have everything ready to grab and go.
I also know someone who will get on a plane with just what he's wearing + passport and phone and buy cheap **** when he gets there, and then dumps it all before he gets back on the plane to come back!

I’ll usually start looking stuff out a couple of weeks before just to make sure it’s still ok to take (ski equipment etc), but every day clothes the day before.

How far? Within arms reach.

I did try throwing things in from across the room once but that didn't work out so well

Physically packing would be a day or two prior as a family.
Doing the checklist for bits would be at least couple of weeks in advance incase some clothes don't fit or are knackered or things can't be found etc. So gives time to get replacments.

Went into work once - was asked if I could go on a flight to Vegas in 2 hours.

Grabbed passport, threw some clothes in a bag and off I went.

Depends on the length of the trip, if it's a week or two a day or two before? If it's a long weekend I'll do it the night before or same day depending on when I need to leave.

I like to make sure everything I need is at hand for longer trips, if that takes anyone more than a 30 mins for a short trip or an hour or two for a longer one I'm in awe at the lack of efficiency.

I put everything in a pile two or three days in advance. Then properly pack the day before. That gives me plenty of time to remember I've forgotten something and add it to the pile.

However, I've been one-bagging for the last few years. So typically I have whatever I can fit into a 30L backpack. So there's not a lot to pack.
