UEFA Champions & Europa League Football Thread ** spoilers ** [21st - 23rd October 2025]

Agreed, 1st half we were atrocious, Ekitike bar his goal did nothing on the right (amusing he was in the left channel on the the breakaway tho), don't think he touched the ball. Hope he doesn't start there against Brentford personally.

Hugo should start over Isak and Salah atm. Puts the ball in the net and mostly does good runs to get into space etc.

Only watched the first half on my ipad while on Zwift. Quite enjoyed it, didn't realise Isak was playing until after 30 minutes. I do like Gakpo though, impresses me whenever I watch him.

Isaks got a paper groin injury yet again, 4th time in 2 years? Ekitike will surely start
Isaks got the groin of someone 10 years older.

slots probably given up on isak by now

I doubt Slots has but it’s certainly not going way either wanted I bet
He was never going to be a transformative signing - as in, a vast step up on what we had anyway (particularly once we signed Ekitike) justifying his fee.

I didn't watch Newcastle particularly religiously, but he gave the impression of a streaky player who was prone to an injury or two, and that's what we're seeing so far. In a way he reminds me of Sturridge - great talent, but not going to get his hands dirty and really pull through hard (to be clear I thought Sturridge was quality, but he cost a tenth of what Isak did, and largely overperformed). That's not the sort of player who you should be making your record signing.

I think Isak will get better for us and play a decent role, but I don't think we'll get anything like value for money from him.
