Because of the high altitude and the air being that much thinner and less dense, drs has much less of a effect because of the lower drag, even though they use a high downforce setup.
Thus I'm not sure how much stronger their cars will be because the Mclaren drs effect has been very strong in other races.
Having said the the McLaren's have had low tyre degradation compared to the other teams but whether that is an advantage with this low grip track I feel remains to be seen.

Not always a great race, but I rather like Mexico: that section through the stadium is just epic. McLaren really need to put together a good weekend here to kill off Max's momentum before they're under real threat, and going by last year it should be a decent track for them. A repeat Ferrari win would be cool too.

No thanks - don't need team mid winning the WDC. Would take a Charles victory though.

This was the race last year where Max embarrassed himself with his driving standards wasn't it. Oof. Double 10 second time penalty. I can see him getting desperate again as he really needs to win every race to have a chance at the title.

With him coming from behind I don't think he will be quite as stupid, very different way to race when you can't risk a DNF.
I honestly don't think he ever thinks about it - but if anything the McLaren boys can't afford a DNF more. If he goes for a divebomb move they'll likely be forced to give him the space unfortunately.

In reality, only one of them needs a no DNF finish to the season.. especially if the other DNF's against Max and he gets a DNF at the same time..

or actually.. they could both have one, if when they each do it they can take Max out at the same time.. Maybe that's what they mean by papaya rules :)

I was trying to do some mental arithmetic to decide if there would ever be a point where both Mclaren drivers could still technically win the WDC but the threat of Max was becoming too real. Would they step in to force one of the drivers into a 'hold up Max' strategy to ensure that a Mclaren drivers wins the WDC rather than a RB driver? And imagine if Max was close enough to win the championship if they both DNF'd the last race and they are still racing for P1 and P2 between them

Is it still theoretically possible for Russell to win the drivers' championship? The top three would have to DNF every race, I assume.

I'm gonna be optimistic and say it'll be a good race.

As a Lando fan it will be exciting anyway, that's for sure. Singapore wasn't a classic but it was tense insofar as not wanting a mechnical DNF if anything, and that made it exciting even in that sense.

Not sure I ever remember an SC here but that might spice things up if there is one.
