I need to get a little server together, and these mini PCs are tempting.

Mainly to run a perforce server, and do some unreal engine CI builds. Something with some kind of GPU, an integrated one would be fine.

Was considering one of the Lenovo M720q boxes. A couple of m.2 and a 2.5 sata would be fine for storage, and I want something as small and quiet as possible.

Suggestions? So many models around.

Must have windows 11 pro, otherwise the extra license cost will be an addition.

Well after a bit of snooping around I have just ordered a BOSGame P4 Plus

Specs :

Ryzen 7 5825U 8c/16t
16GB Ram
512gb SSD
2.5Gbe
Win11 Pro

£255 from the rainforest with some vouchers.

Should be more than enough to run my little source control and CI stack. I did consider upgrading my NAS to one of the Aoostar things, but tbh I like having things separate, and having the data on this backed up regularly onto my existing NAS for redundancy.

BOSGame P4 plus arrived. Opened it up to confirm expansion…the 16Gb is on a single SODIMM, with one slot free, the 2280 m.2 is likewise one of two slots with the other free.

Didn’t fancy letting it loose on my network so just put it on a hotspot from my phone and let the Win11 install finish and activate…..then wiped it and installed a freshly downloaded windows image (don’t trust the software on these Chinese boxes).

Pretty snappy so far, a little fan noise but ok. I’ll probably put it under the stairs when it’s all setup.

Just had a Beelink SER8 delivered, nifty looking device, very similar to the Mac mini. Swifty installed Linux on it, connected to a portable 14" monitor at the moment, looking very snazzy.

Testing if it can become the daily driver for what I need nowadays. I love my Mac Mini but alas, I have not enjoyed MacOS for some time now.

If I'm being honest, my Beelink S12 N100 could easily become my daily driver, I don't need much power to browse, use the terminal and write code. But I have a plan for a multi-node cluster of n100 mini pc's.

Glad I found this thread.

I've been pulling my hair out for the past 6 months trying to get to the bottom of the random reboots I have been experiencing with my beelink 5700u

I think it's a combination of things

1st I would highly recommend refreshing the TIM. My temps shot up 20C after a few months of use this in turn clipped the CPU resulting in memory errors found after 4 hours of memtest due to the CPU being hot. The memory imho is fine

2nd am I overloading my USB?

Removing 2x ugreen ethernet adapters makes the system more stable

I think having 600mA on the usb2 port is borderline too much...
Wait the external hub is also using 100mA so the total is a theoretical max of 700mA
