Football Manager 26

I don't get why this stuff isn't picked up in QA, I mean, if it's instantly noticeable to you, then surely it is in regression testing etc
Honestly, I think they've just been rushing to get it out.

It does raise a lot of question as to how they thought a year ago that they'd be able to release FM25.

If they'd missed this release I imagine they would have been in serious trouble financially.

I was thinking of getting a refund but will wait it out. It's my favourite game that I've been playing since 1997. I hope they don't go bust but this doesn't look good :(

Meh... I don't think I've ever considered looking at reviews for a new FM game. There isn't any competition in this space so it's not like there's an alternative football manager sim.

It is what it is. The new engine will be good to look at. And the new UI changes people will get used too.

Spot on, hopefully when it's fully released they will release patch that fixes most of the bugs. I'm gonna play it over the weekend and see if can get use to UI. Wonder is custom skin makers will be able to do some of their magic.

I need to play about with it a bit more.

Don't know if I was missing something obvious last night but when I was searching for a job I couldn't actually find a way to apply a filter to the list of vacancies.

Surely that's in there somewhere and I'm just being an idiot.

I'll have you know USM 98 is still amazing. As is Champ Manager 01/02. Broke out USM a while ago and it's still insane, no real depth to it or anything compared to modern day though.

I can see this game being very heavily discounted at Christmas. It is getting massacred on the Steam forum.

The cynic in me thinks this will be the last FM game as Sega look to move forward with a live service style FM in the future.

I was thinking about that.

One the one hand we don't want to pay £30 a year to play FM.

But on the other if it moves to a subscription model, it would have enabled them to update the game with new players and player movements etc... and allowed them to develop the new features in the background.

I think the issue is the licenses though. They don't last forever so they are constantly having to add and remove stuff based on the licenses agreed.

I've had thousands of hours across previous FM's

Seen a few people doing streams of the Alpha and thought some of the issues they had mentioned I could put up with but I was wrong.

The amount of bugs I came across within a few hours made me put in a refund request.

There's so many issues, some game breaking where I even had the same player take 3 penalties in a row, an injured player during a match who I couldn't substitute because it said the player I was bringing on was injured and the constant going back to a team meeting from a month ago when pressing the back button or mouse 4.

It feels like it's a year away from being where it needs to be, will wait and see how FM 27 looks!

Bought the game, loaded it up, and went to play — but Windowed Mode feels strange, not like in previous installments. Ended up turning it off before even starting a career.

I saw a hotfix went out last night that addressed a bunch of issues, so I have faith they’ll get the game into a decent state.

Not really played a football manager game since Championship Manager 2002/3

Was thinking of giving this a go as I'd like to get back into it but think I'll hold off for a while longer!

I think some of the feedback on it is harsh, particularly since it's still a week away from release. I played about 4 hours this evening having not bought an FM since 21 and am having a good time with it. There's the odd bug, but nothing massively serious, and I'm enjoying the reworked tactics (you can FINALLY separate attacking and defensive shapes properly) and the match engine. I don't think it's that far off being in decent working order, it's less buggy than a lot of modern games are even after release, and technically it's still in beta.

I went back to the original Football Manager by Kevin Toms last night for a nostalgia blast. It was the spectrum version I played, even though I played the C64 variant back in my childhood. So simple and basic, but still enjoyable :D
