Sim racers - what are you running?

No he is only on Facebook. I'll message him for you and see if there is another way to contact him if you like?

I only got my rig recently so prices should still be current
For £180 you get his standard 40/80 rig
For 260 he'll include a single monitor mount and I think it's 320 with a triple mount.
His rigs are just aluminium profile with brackets and screws, no bells or whistles but for the money it's phenomenal value.
Plus all these other 40/80 rigs you can buy are exactly the same thing but tarted up to look a bit nicer

But if you want something from a website, then for 300 you can buy the one I mentioned earlier in the thread. They told me it would be next day delivery as well, si turnbull tends to be 1 - 2 weeks
Sorry to bring up such an old post. Do you know if he still makes rigs? I've looked him up on FB and it's bare since about last year. I'm after a rig but want something narrower than standard.

Thanks will do.
he's active on a couple of sim racing buy/sell it groups, I don't think he really posts on his own page so much.
beware, recently seen a few posts complaining about long lead times.

I've ordered off him 3 times and he's missed every single promised deadline, but for me the delay was 2 weeks max, others were saying it had been months for them.

Yeah he can be slow. I don’t mind but I wish he’d be upfront. I think mine took 5 or 6 weeks. I’ve never seen him not deliver. But yeah lead times aren’t great often.

I can only assume he buys in bulk and waits for a certain amount of orders.

Stonking value for what you get though.

Yeh I asked him to add extra lengths of profile to my order and I couldn't get close to his pricing anywhere

I've got the Upshift 80x40 rig which is absolutely fantastic and loving it, but I have the GTS Bucket seat and I get some chronic back pain if I'm in it for any prolonged period of time. I use my Noble Chair lumber cushion but don't find it helps. Does anyone else use this set up and experience the same? Or have any tips?

Yeah I saw posts about his lead times so I decided to go it myself. A lot more expensive but I'm getting extrusions delivered tomorrow and I'd rather not wait over a month so it's worth it to me.

Have you tried different angles? That can play a huge rull with the tilt on the seat, pedal angle and height etc.

Saw the announcement recently for AC Rally which made me think I really should get back into sim racing :p

I did try about a year ago but came into a few issues pretty much straight away, first was that my G25 pedals were dead so I ended up buying the Moza SR-P pedals (include clutch kit) which fixed that but came with the issue that the load cell brake with an office chair wasn't ideal! I also had issues with iRacing not liking VM's when they added Easy Anti-cheat (still a problem it seems annoyingly) so ended up putting it aside until now.

Anyway, to today! Was looking at/thinking of rigs to help with the pedal/office chair situation but cost and also space put me off, especially as right now I'm in the middle of a (very slow/long/lazy) DIY project meaning space isn't really doable, but I came across the GT Omega Wheel Stand Pro which was 'cheap', ish, and has a little tray thing for the chair wheels so thought sod it why not and got that.

Got that setup and overall I like it, sure a full rig would inevitably be better it at least gives me something I can use right now and actually brake properly! Mostly been playing a bit of Assetto Corsa (the OG) and reminding myself why I never really got on with it :p Also picked up WRC10 in the recent Steam sale so gonna give that a go, did try iRacing and it runs now (yay) but the graphics are just broken, which seems to be a VM issue (boo!), so gonna build up a standalone PC 'soon' for that.

Onto the actual hardware and reason for this post I'm now thinking about a DD wheel again, my ancient G25 is fine I guess but I want more! Given I got the Moza pedals and I'm pretty happy with them I'm kinda thinking I'll get a Moza wheel setup as well, current thinking would be an R12 + KS wheel as the base and then maybe get a round wheel (maybe just the ES?) and probably at some point the Handbrake and maybe Sequential Shifter.

But is that the right option? From what I can see the Moza stuff is decently priced and pretty well regarded but is there some standout better option I'm missing?

Moza/Simagic/Conspit/asetek

any of those are decent options
I would reccomend 15nm+ of torque though, you may not run it that high but when you run it at around 12/13 (what many consider the sweet spot), you won't get clipping.

I'd go Alpha Mini with a GT Neo, personally.

How come? Just preference or something else?

The GT Neo wheel does look nice though! But the Alpha Mini seems a step down from the R12 and the Alpha Evo being the closer match?

I'll take a look at the others, cheers. Did look at stronger wheels but wasn't sure, in Moza's case the R16 is ~£180 more than the R12 which seems a lot more, but dunno if getting the 12 I'd regret it down the line... Still gonna be a huge step up from the ~2.5 of the G25 :-p

Don't pay too much attention to the numbers. It might say 12, but the mini is beefier in reality. Also, the Neo is a far better built wheel than the KS.

If you got the budget, then go with the Evo, not that it's really necessary.

What’s my shopping list for a rig then? Already got moza r5. Good enough.
Recently went to simplyrace and the lad an I want the study to be a sim room lol

Need a seat which can move forward and back as he is only short.

Also want triple screen.

What’s a decent mid range setup?

All my research into it seemed to say go for an '8020' rig, this is the Aluminium Extrusion stuff with various options within that but it means there's a bunch of accessories that can be added on without being restricted by what one manufacturer offers. For example GT Omega has the Prime Lite R as their entry level entry and it goes up from there with basically bigger bars for more stiffness.

You definitely can set the seat up with a slider like from a car, not sure if any of the rigs come with that as default though...

I'm not too clued up on the nuances between wheel bases, but I'm sure I read that the R16 isn't just more power, its a better wheelbase overall.
That being said Moza have anouced new wheelbases that should be out soon.

and the KS will feel like a toy in comparison to the GT Neo, the other wheel to consider is the Conspit gt300, apparently it cannot be beaten quality wise for under £600/700
