The Long Walk movie (Stephen King/Richard Bachmann)

Garrity is the last man. McVries is the one who sits down. There is no carbine wish, Garrity just keeps walking following a spectral figure up ahead (I'm assuming death)
Yeah but bad man must pay!

More disappointed by the changed end than anything. Film was OK to watch.

Fill the non book readers in.

It's also not Garrity and McFries as the last two.. it's Garrity and Stebbins.. Stebbins in the film, is not the same character as the book..

I guess they changed the ending as it's quite bleak.. i.e. there is no winner.. Garrity is insane at the end of the book.. which fits the actual dystopian setting much better than the film ending..

I don't think the above is film spoilers.. so I won't put it in spoiler tags..

Sorry yes it's Stebbins. Yes they amalgamated some elements of Scramm's character into Stebbins in the film. They also gave Scramm's wife to Hank Olsen IIRC? IDK man. The whole thing was a mess

To be honest I can’t even remember who Garrity or any of the names the film was instantly forgettable and that’s when I was paying attention. Reading the above it must be the bloke who has a face like a slapped arse and a permanent expression. He seems to be in a lot of new films for some reason.

Was that the little idiot with the out of place accent. He was terrible.

Watched it last night and loved it apart from the ending where I thought the book was much better.

I said in the film watching thread, that my friends and I have been rallying around another friend recently and ironically went on a long walk yesterday.

The cameraderie between the boys, supporting each other even though that's counterintuitive to the game at play just resonated strongly with me. Then the realisation when the first boy drops out where they know this isn't a game anymore. Not knowing how scary and f'ed up something is until you're there in the middle of it. Young naivety portrayed exceptionally.

I teared up a little during the middle of the film which is unheard of for me.

The book ending was class though and I think could have really worked in the film.

8/10 from me. If they had used the book ending it'd be a 9.
