A **** card, with a **** design, who wudda thunk it!![]()
And I just sold my previous 4090. Bet my 5090 catches fire in time for Guy Fawke's night.A **** card, with a **** design, who wudda thunk it!![]()
Customer breaks card
He can’t fix it
Blame Nvidia
Eh?
I upgraded last week from 5800X3D and 4090 to 9800X3D and 5090 and been pulling my hair out with all the issues: constant USB disconnect/reconnect issues, black screens, temps....etc
I want to ask if people with 5090's are still facing issues with black screens in multi monitor setups? I'm running 2 monitors via DP and a TV via HDMI which I usually use as my main display however when I'm at my desk using the monitor if I set it to my main display whilst the TV is still registered as an active display in Nvidia control panel and I then turn the TV off or change to another input then the monitor either completely loses signal or the black screen just flickers on and off indefinitely. I'm tempted to RMA the card and either get a replacement (MSI Suprim SOC) or change to another variant but no idea if it'll solve the issues or not
Do you think using a DP to HDMI adapter for the monitor would make any difference to my situation?I have 3 screens (1 DP and 2 HDMI). I did have an issue where one wasn’t detected, but that was fixed after a driver reinstall. Otherwise no issue. It can be a bit finicky setting up the right arrangement with the windows+p menu options and I have to set them all back up after every driver update which is a pain. I’m leaning toward software issue rather than hardware given all my issues have been driver related.

If you have not, I would either DDU or Windows fresh installThe strange thing is if I disable the TV in control panel before turning it off then the monitor doesn't encounter these black screen issues
I've ran DDU on 2 separate occasions now and still not fixed. Reinstalling windows is really a last resort. If you have not, I would either DDU or Windows fresh install
I still haven't got around to undervolting my 5090. It's less that I can't find the time to do the initial test, more that I don't want to have to fine tune it if it's not stable. I'm tempted to just try the g-assist method as I saw some people here say they had success with that as it's quite conservative.
Perhaps just leave your TV on stand by for nowI've ran DDU on 2 separate occasions now and still not fixed. Reinstalling windows is really a last resort.
It's such an odd issue that when all 3 screens are on there's no problem but when I turn off the TV then the 2 monitors start losing signal / black screen on and off continuously
I think I may have just stumbled across the fix for my very specific situation! I'm using a Denon AVS-3 switch between my PS5, PC & Denon AVR as my AVR has only 1x 8K 40gbps input and this AVS-3 allowed me to plug both PS5 & PC into this one input socket essentially as using eARC on the TV was causing lip sync issues and also some clipping on loud ATMOS or DTS-HD-MA scenes anyway, i just thought i'd try changing the input on the AVS-3 to an unused one when i change from PC to TV for example and now the DP connected monitors are no longer encountering loss of signal.....very strange as was never an issue with my 4090 before but seems to have done the trick so I can rejoice (and probably cancel my RMA request with Scan)Perhaps just leave your TV on stand by for now
