*** The Official iPhone 17 thread (it has new camera bumps and everything!) ***

Not sure if true but I’ve seen a few sites reporting that Apple are dialling back Air production due to low sales figures.
Possibly an element of truth in that as it's the only variant in this year's batch that is in stock anywhere and everywhere.

going the way of the mini. It’s funny, whenever apple try something new.. nobody bites. Shame. It’s a good device despite what people who haven’t used one say about the battery etc. (the air)

Thing is, it’s the middle device.

Vast majority of people are going to go either the cheaper device or get the best one. You're faced with what is ultimately I’m I better spending an extra ~10% and get the top of the range or just save the money and get the entry level. The camera is probably one of the biggest selling factors across the board as well.

If anyone is wanting the sage green 17, I ordered a sim free one via EE yesterday and it's arriving tomorrow, despite it saying ~14 days. I couldn't find one showing quicker delivery, well, not from anyone I'd want to order from that is.
was that the 256 or 512gb ?

Anyone gone from a max phone to a normal iPhone?

I’ve been using a refurbished 13 Pro Max for the last 12 months. The latest iOS 26 is really hitting the battery life and I’m really noticing it with battery capacity at 84%.

So it’s either an £85 battery replacement or, just get a new phone.

I like tech but idea of spending £1000 on a 17 Pro Max is a big no no for me.

So left with either the standard 17 or, a refurbished 15 Pro Max from Apple.

I went into an Apple shop at the weekend and handled the standard 17 and must admit, it felt really nice and light. Bizarrely, the reduced screen size wasn’t that bad.

Anyone else done similar?

I went from 15 Pro Max to 17 and I’m liking it so far.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss the larger screen because I do occasionally, however the upsides such as better fit in the hand (better ergonomics all round really), pocketability and lighter weight more than make up for the loss in screen size.

I don’t particularly care for any of the Pro features and the only reason I ever had a Pro Max is because I wanted the ProMotion display. Now that it’s in the regular models I have no need for a pro device at all. If Apple had continued the “plus” line I would almost definitely have bought one but alas it wasn’t to be.

Battery life has been a little better on the 17 than my 15PM - and the latter still had 93% health so it’s not like the battery capacity had badly degraded. I cap charging at 80% overnight and usually end the day anywhere between 20-40%.
That said, a battery only needs to last one day IMO. There aren’t many people out there who don’t charge their phone once a day so the battery life argument (for the pro’s) never really held water with me.

Went from 13 pro to iPhone 17 - didnt want to but my battery on the old phone died in like, 2 hours, so had to upgrade.

Day to day the main useful difference I've noticed is the insanely brighter screen which means the phone is easily usable in full sunlight now - & the speakers are hugely louder and clearer.

Sure the spec upgrades on paper are nice, but the real benefits are the foundations that have been upgraded - simply worth it for the much better screen and audio.

Sure the cameras nicer but it's not hugely different. Faster processor is nice, not much different (only bigger difference is intense situations like exporting 360 video footage). SOS without phone signal is very useful for me personally as often in the wilderness.

Worth it, went to a sage green 256gb 17.
