The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

idle anything up to upper 70s 85 ish under load
BUT if i do the different refresh rate screen thing i get mid 90s at idle doing nothing lol just running the os with the 3rd extra screen on lol and it would black screen if i tried to do absolutely anything else with the 3rd screen
if i even overclock the vram by the smallest amount it instantly hits upper 90s and black screen and have to power on the machine again lol
so normally not a problem but no room to manouver hence why i got the 2nd gpu was better than 50w of extra power pinning the vram to the limit and causing it to black out on me all the time lol

i dont thing 85 under load is bad. your 20c away from max temp. i think one problem is the GPU just runs so sodding cool the fans don't really do anything so the ram is not actively cooled a lot of the time.
i have game profiles for undervolting and all that, but i also have turned off the fan stop option when in games giving my mid 70's on the ram.
in a lot of the games i play the fans never spin up until the GPU is in the 60's and this is just pumping heat into the heatsink and it turn the ram..

yer thats not ok..

exactly the same yes lol the fans are only getting their info from the core temperature which means when anything that warms the vram but not the cores up the fans dont react obviously... and yes ive done the same i keep the fans relatively low until the core hits about 45/50 then i let them ramp up [in actual use my gpu temp actually never goes above 51/52 ish lol] and fan stop is off just like yours that tiny bit of fan related airflow action is enough to keep it in check though i find
unless i forget and turn the 3rd monitor on [which due to the fact the sapphire card only has 2 display ports means i have to use hdmi on the third monitor.... my monitors are the samsung g5 which dont like using hdmi and only have a limited range of refresh options and such and yeah this then opens that known long standing bug that ramps your vram up to the max possible frequency which blasts about an extra 30ish watts and causes the vram temps to rocket upwards. its like the perfect set of holes in the old sqiss cheese analogy they use in disaster breakdown documentaries.... in my case those holes line up just right for this to happen
but it was a good excuse to buy a second gpu and during that process i somehow discovered lossless scaling and the dual gpu thing thats starting to get a small but cult like status and im all in for this when i get around to actually taking the damned machine apart and putting it baack together again with said second gpu installed lol.
im making the problem sound a lot worse than it really is its more of a niggle that ive had to be carefull to remember more than a major issue
i cannot actually overclock my vram even slightly without a black screen though not sure thats even temperature related but i think it probably is but tbh it will go black the moment i click the apply settings so im not sure it was long enough to cause the epic crash but the symptoms are similar
not a big issue i just need to be mindfull
im far too attached to this card to rma it unless a much bigger problem happens lol. its good points just way outstrip the few minor quirks which im rapidly finding workarounds for lol

I've seen some of these cards on the clearance section, thinking of putting in an offer.

Worth it buy components from the Clearance, with limited warranty and such, just to save more money, since computer upgrade is expensive?

Not at the price listed, but you can make an offer here,- if accepted and the price difference is significant enough in your mind, then I guess why not. - https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/b-grade-clearance-and-forum-deals.18925626/

I'd personally go with the cheapest brand new 9070xt I can find as the price differential isn't enough to justify it imo.

I've had multiple cards from BGrade and always bang on about how good it is. To be fair I got my 9070XT for a frankly ridiculous price and my son's 9070 for a good price too.

I see there have bene a few more documented 9070XT Nitro+ with burnt connectors recently. Looks like all have used the three plug to 12VHWPR adapter so far.
Not blaming user error here as it's a stupid connector but I wonder if the extender works if only two 8 pins are connected/working and it then pulls too much power out something similar.

I went with the 12v connector that came with my power supply, fingers crossed it holds out

That's likely what we won't find out. We will likely only get half the story.

I'm using the 12vhpwr cable with my PSU also, I felt an extra set of connections less means less chance of issue if it were to occur.

ive had about 8 now all have been bang on, they did for a week stop taking offers on GPU's but it all back to normal now, start with an offer of £450

Which of the recent driver revision are considered to be the most stable , currently suffering from driver time out errors on Windows 11 ,intel 10th gen ,rx 9070, Corsair rm 850x PSU (my test rig ,tested lots of cards in it ,fully working )

I have two rx 9070 cards one Asus prime rx 9070 and powercolor rx 9070 red devil , I use various tests ,I generally use the free Bright memory rtx demo to test the ray tracing ,strange thing ,same drivers ,same system etc ,fresh install of drivers ,ddu to uninstall when testing each card .

But the rx 9070 red devil ,gets driver time out issues when looping the Bright memory test (works fine on port royal) but the Asus 9070 prime ,no issues of time out errors with Bright memory

No overclocking or under clocking, regular voltage etc

Bit stuck as to why one card is fine ,but the other suffers time out driver errors , if both cards gave the same issue in Bright memory rtx test ,then I would just move on ,bit worried the rx 9070 red devil has issues.

Anyone else tested there rx 9070 with the free steam bright memory rtx demo ?

just bought a 9070XT from OCUK and the memories (nightmares?) of running my 390's in crossfire are flooding back. Not been in the RED team for over 10 years now.

While I'm on, it's a bit disappointing I can't sell my MSI 3080 Ventus on here, bought from OCUK pre-sale with all that waiting around in 2020. No access to MM?

So it will go on Ebay which is a shame as I bet a forum member could have put it to good use ..... oh well eh?

You probably just need to post a bit more regularly - you've got the 1000 post count... check the FAQs

"have decided that once you have reached the level to access Members Market, you will be required to make a minimum of 15 posts in other areas outside of MM over a 90 day rolling period in order to retain access. It should be noted that posts in all sub forums except New Members and Testing will count towards this.

This will be entirely automated; so if you fail to post 15 times outside of MM in any rolling 90 day period, your access will be removed until you meet the requirements when your access will be reinstated automatically.

Because this is a change to the MM access requirements and is dependant on your posting over a 90 day period, we are giving at least 90 days notice. This will come into affect on the 1st January 2024 and the rules will be updated then to indicate the additional requirement"
