**** The Official Chinese Phones Thread ****

Ive been looking at the Honor Magic 7 Pro, £1 upgrade and after discount about £50 for unlimited data with O2 on their switch up.

Seems better in almost every way than S25 Ultra.

PWM
Camera
Face ID
Ergonomics
Battery
Anti reflective screen and better software updates on the s25u. But rest yes.

I'm looking for a new phone for the Mrs for Christmas, up to around £300, any recommendations please?

She's using a Xiaomi Poco F5, but she's managed to crack the screen...

Currently thinking :-

Xiaomi Poco X7 Pro
Xiaomi Poco F7 Pro
Xiaomi Poco F6 Pro

The oppo x9 pro and OnePlus 15 both look tempting! Thinking of switching out from a pixel
OP15 released in China today. Looks like global release will be in a couple of weeks as opposed to months.

Like the look of it, will see what the trade in price is for my S24U, would switch mainly for the battery and charging tbh. Need to see some real world reviews first though, none out yet.

I've had my Honor about 5 days and it seems pretty brilliant.

The camera is mostly great, portrait mode blows any phone I've used out of the water, that Harcourt effect is great too, not tried it on a night, sometimes the pictures seem low quality especially when cropping in, but they do have a specific high-res option too. Portraits always seem pretty good quality.

Even though I do like the harcourt effect, is it possibble to turn it off at all?

The screen seems great, I can't say it's any worse than say a S25 Ultra. the phone is super smooth.

Battery life isn't as good, but is better than Z-Fold 7 at least, haven't really learnt how to ensure best optmisation yet.

magic OS is much less customisable, but it looks good and is smooth, in fact it feels so smooth I don't think I've had a device that has felt so good navigating around.

The OPPO X9 (non pro) and OP15 are essentially the same phone just that the OPPO has a MediaTek processor and the Oneplus has a Snapdragon. The X9 is out today and is £899 which is probably what the OP15 will be priced at. The X9 Pro is £1099.
As much as I like Oneplus phones I'd actually opt for the regular X9 if I was after a new phone.

Yeah I was looking at the x9 pro but the launch offers are a tad rubbish especially when compared to Europe who are getting a discount voucher and free X2 watch.

I'll hold off for now

Do you know the update policy on the OPPO?

Tempted by the X9 Pro, but my last 3 phones were pixels, I'd be moving from a pixel 8 pro and worried the camera wouldn't be as good.

Not looked into the X9 Pro in too much detail but seems camera is the main focus of it so should still be pretty good.

Personally camera is at the bottom of my priorities, and apart from camera, OnePlus 15 is better than the X9P in all other areas.

Just paid the (fully refundable) 'deposit' of £99 to get free OnePlus watch (sells for £200) and hopefully £50-£100 off the OP15, if end up purchasing it when it's released on November 13.

Along with the £1 drops for the charger and some sort of bag, if manage to get it, could end up being a ridiculous deal. They definitely played it smart with their marketing this year. Either way will keep researching reviews until making final decision.

Add to that student discount and trade in any old phone for an additional 50 notes.

If all the stars align it'll be a cracking price.

Thanks @A2Z - stacking away. I haven't found the trade in part yet but maybe you do that on purchase and I have the key worker discount but won't know the discount until purchase.

Think I might hit the button for the deposit....

Edit - If the 16GB/512GB is £950....
  • -£50 for trade in
  • -£50 off coupon
  • Estimated -£80 for 10% student discount
  • -£150-£200 for selling the watch (I have a Garmin)
So when all is settled, potentially £570-£620. Not bad at all. Thanks for the clarification @kona786.

150 to 200 for the watch. Market will be flooded. 80 for the student discount as its minus the deposit and coupon.
