How deprived is your neighbourhood ?

Oh hah hah.

The red dot is where my mum used to live. Everyone there is elderly and generally quite wealthy. It just shows how utter garbage the list is.

Looking at the data its skewed by some silly things. Retirement definitely being one of them.
Another example is 'employment'. If youre wealthy to live off investments it'll go down as a negative for employment. As it would if you work but your partner stays at home to look after the kids etc.

I have compared the postcodes of a few areas that I know of. The interpretations that this website is giving out are way off reality in my opinion.

My childhood homes were north of 30,000, so things have clearly gone wrong for me somewhere.
Are you from Leigh?

Where I grew up - 33,168. Where I live - 15,808. There's about 15 miles between them. They're both villages in East Anglia. It's nonsense.

4,226 where I last lived in the UK and 18,566 where I grew up.
Didn't expect the first to rank so poorly or the second to rank so well.

Where I grew up:

Your area, North Hertfordshire 012F, is ranked 28,792 out of 33,755 in the 2025 Index of Multiple Deprivation (where 1 is most deprived and 33,755 is least deprived). This means it is less deprived than a typical neighbourhood.

Old London neighbourhood:

19,000 ish.

Surprised it's as deprived as that, tbh. There's a small council estate but, otherwise, it's mostly quite a well-to-do area.

My first house, a terrace in Fishponds, Bristol is 23,000. Which is slightly baffling compared with my current home ranking.

It's 7,000 where I grew up, 1,700 at my 2nd year university house in Coventry.

Your area, is ranked 4,680 out of 33,755 in the 2025 Index of Multiple Deprivation (where 1 is most deprived and 33,755 is least deprived). This means it is more deprived than most neighbourhoods.

Where I grew up is ranked 6,921 out of 33,755.

Both areas are in London, zone 2 and now zone 6.

Jiminy cricket, I didn't realise this, I better change my ways to fit in the area. Going to buy a tracksuit and trainers tomorrow.
