Winter 2025/2026 - Cold or Mild?

Latest model updates indicate a good likelihood that the jet stream will be disrupted and shifted south during the end of November to early December - in recent years even when all the other conditions come together if the jet stream is steadily across us any wintery weather on offer never comes off.

Anybody seen the Met Office's new website design? It looks awful.

Having to scroll and open various accordions and elements just to get the basic data that was easily visible in the old design is not good. Making plain data harder to find in favour of animations and punchy headline info isn't the way.

I did put my thoughts in their feedback input. The old design had the data you wanted right there, like temp, feels like temp, wind direction and speed, etc.

Deffo looking like much colder weather late NOV! Bring it on :D

Followed by your cries of anguish when you have to put the heating on...

It's already on...

So I'm crying with anguish already. So while it's still on, might as well say BRING ON THE SNOW!

Yes it's proper naff. I had to accept cookies to go back to the old version.

Didn't have the thunder and lightning like some, despite being on the forecast, but had some crazy rainstorms here yesterday afternoon and into the night. Brief but very squally, when I was driving into work for about 5 minutes it went nuts and when driving home earlier there was one bit where it seemed to be concentrated rain for about 100 yards only with the road completely flooded on one side despite either side of that patch just being a bit damp.

Doubt it means much for us but Iceland has had some early and heavy snow this year, possibly an encouraging sign.

I think they have deliberately made it worse to get people to accept cookies. Best response is to not use their site any more. A shame because their preds seem to work pretty well where I am.
Yes this is my thinking. I went on bbcgoodfood yesterday to get a recipe which I've had bookmarked for years. Now a message pops up saying either pay for non advertising version or accept cookies.
Seems were starting to get forced into cookies to continue to use these sites.

Stupidly mild for the last few days 17c and same for next week as well can't decide what to do with the duvet its much too warm for it

40cm of snow in Reykjavik! Just a weather event thats already passed well above freezing now

Been surprisingly mild on the North Wales coast most of the last week literally a few miles from the place that shall not be named, with this morning feeling the warmest. Less rain thankfully than originally forecast, meant a fair few clothes I'd packed for my break weren't really needed.

Looks more like typical autumn weather back home in Hampshire, low teens and lots of rain.
