Arc Raiders

Just went back in and did another Probe exactly as I did the previous one with the Breach and checking three panels and the Quest updated this time correctly. Didn't extract as a damn Rocketeer took me out, but I surrendered inside a building as there was another player and said over local chat to take the gear I'd collected as I was bleeding out. Hopefully he extracted as there were other players sat in the hills sniping down towards the extraction.

I just hope it doesn't just turn into a camp fest as that would really spoil the gameplay loop for a lot of players.
I would imagine that camping will become a big part of it, at the end of the day the game is collect loot, get out with said loot, camping is a highly effective way to acquire said loot, you get the jump on someone, plus its likely to be someone who is already low on health or shields due to fighting around collecting stuff. In terms of achieving the goal, its very effective to camp....bit like how strikers back in the day used to poach goals by hanging around the goal area and how many battles in wars are won by ambushing enemy troops when they are at their weakest. Its not something I do myself or am ever likely to do but its undoubtedly one of the best ways to achieve the games goals. Probably why things like Battlefield etc are always so chock full of snipers :)

Patch just dropped.

And then a few hours later...

Raiders!

In order to address the animation issues that some of you were experiencing, we have to roll back a few of the changes that we introduced in the Hotfix earlier. We will include the fixes again in a future update!

Four features we need to roll back:
  • Fixed an issue where the Augment Effects didn't work.,
  • Fixed a bug where the Augment Effect wouldn't work when equipping another quick use item.,
  • Added charge progress hint for integrated shield repair.,
  • Fixed a bug where the health regen augment skills wouldn't work if triggered while DBNO.,

We are also actively working on rolling out the update on Xbox but there will be a delay. We will keep you posted.

Well there's enough positive comments here and some good reviews for me to give the game a punt, at £26.00 not much to lose.

You'll get your money worth! how much is it to go to the cinema these days for a 90 min film?

Agreed have to admit I'm having real fun both solo and with randoms as a team

It reminds me a bit of the Division Survival mode with less of the crafting and other btw to survive which I didn't enjoy as much

I would really like to get this but i'm also really into BF6 currently so might wait for this to drop a bit more.

They also allow joining mid-round which kinda compresses more people of 1 type into the same player space. Keep an eye on the clock (top middle of the screen) when you join. If it's 30 minutes it's a fresh round. If it's say 20 mins then you've joined a map already 10m in, this affects how you'll play. More places will have been looted and there will be less time on the clock before extraction points shut down. You're more likely to find dead raiders who have already looted stuff and have stacked inventories, other raiders are more likely to have used their supplies and ammo in battle or be a man down.

Had this last night. 17 mins left when we joined. Missed the first 2 extracts by 1 min. Sprint to the last one with all sorts happening - Hollywood.

There are some systems that mitigate this.

- It's boring, if you join at the start of the match you have a good while to wait until someone has looted and is ready to extract.
- You don't guarantee your loot, early extractors might just have base materials on them, nothing special
- People have secret pockets in which they'll stash the most epic loot they've found, blueprints, epics, keys. You can't loot that.
- Arc patrol heavily around extraction points and provide a constant nuisance for campers there.
- It's risky, with a high TTK even if you're ambushed you can turn around fights. There's no guarantee the person you're ambushing isn't more dangerous than you.

If you're good and you just want to ruin other peoples day, then you'll just go to where the fights are, follow the gunfire and explosions and launched flares of dead players.

If you have been killed at extraction, odds are it wasn't a camper but another person just looking to extract, a good reason why it's often a good idea to call friendly over prox chat. From their perspective they're full looted and ready to extract, they dont need what you have, they're just trying to protect their own haul.

This has been the case with every extract fight I've had so far.

We start fighting each other then someone calls out over prox chat they're all fully looted so we're just wanting to extract and suddenly you've got 9 people all getting in the elevator at the same time. I've lucked out with a fair few raider hatch keys so at the moment if I'm fully looted with decent gear I'm just heading to a raider hatch.

Great points. The ads are tough , even the basic wasps are a nuisance. Make a lot of noise.

Well yea there are mitigating factors its not a 100% success, but just go in with free loadouts so you arent losing anything and extract camp and its very profitable, thats why every extraction shooter has extraction campers. It is boring yes but never underestimate the stubbornness of a camper to sit for 30mins doing next to nothing (every pvp shooter is rife with snipers doing exactly that). As I say, not something I do...I will sit in a bush and camp someone if I hear them in a building... case in point, I just sat outside a building in my last match because I heard someone inside looting, sat there for 17mins while he looted everything in the building, as he ran out I shot him in the back and killed him and took the stuff he had spent 17mins collecting. Now, I COULD have charged into the building and engaged him but that would have been a 50/50 compared to the 80/20 fight from jumping him from behind as he exited the building (thinking he was safe)...however I dont do that at extraction points.

Benefit of this is, even if they get skittish and knock you DBNO purely for their safety because they dont trust other players. You can crawl into the extraction and still get out. I've never had a raider knock me out in the extraction even though they've had the opportunity, I just don't think many people are that spiteful.

If you attack first, they absolutely will.
