9850X3D and 9950X3D2 rumours.

Unless they have solved the issue as most games are still going to assign to a single 8 core CCD to help with performance/latency and the second CCD wether it has vcache or not is proberly going be sat idle/a sleep.

I'm not sure what would justify the potential productivity performance increase given the price the 9950X3D2 over something that would be more than suitable but proberly cost half the price.

The 9850X3D is going to be intresting as it may cause all the people who threw aside their 7800X3D's for 5% average more gaming performance at 1080p with a 5090 for a 9800X3D to upgrade again.
yeah on that last bit..... fingers crossed LOL!

Release date of 9950X3D2 will matter, as Zen6 is due 2026.

If it's due just a few weeks or months away from Zen6 then this will be one to skip, even if it does bring 5% performance and quality of life improvements (not having to disable CCX's etc).

Yeah it doesn't seem a massively compelling prospect. For gaming I doubt the impact will be much as theres few games using more than 8 cores and you still have the inter CCD latency. It might be good for some production workloads, but if Zen 6 is close thats a much better prospect.

Typical when I just bought a 9800X3D. I did have a bit of buyers remorse thinking I should have bought a 9950X3D as I do use my pc for things where the extra cores would’ve been useful, but didn’t want to sell so soon.

The plan was to wait for Zen 6 but I think I’ll go for the 9950X3D2 if that releases

I was going to say that I’d be all over these CPU’s if/when released but I challenged myself. My two core systems are a 9800X3D and a 9950X3D and they’re both absolutely fine for my needs.

Reason why I've gone away from "chasing the dragon" for PC gear.

I think I’ll wait and see if 1, these get released and 2, how much AMD want for them. I can see the use case for a mini EPYC-X that can double as desktop.

Hope the 9950X3D2 doesn't take too long to launch.

Using a 9800X3D on my AM5 rig currently, upcoming Black Friday deals on 9950X3D will be hard to resist :D

im hoping for some black friday 9800x3d deals to happen tbh lol
but also wishing the 9850x3d was closer [if its not just rumour that is lol]

Q1 2026 for these at earliest, Zen6 probs Q4 2026 and then they usually delay vcache models so Q1 or even Q2 2027 for those.
