My brother slammed down on my laptop keyboard, now it doesn’t run too well.

I got this laptop about a year back (august 2024), at times I’d let my younger brother play some of his games on there, he rages sometimes but I never really thought much of it. One day i heard a loud slam and I came to check it out, there I found him on the home screen - he explained that he “slammed on the keyboard” and the screen “went all weird, like black with some colours in a corner”. He explained how he forced the power off and turned the device back on and all was good. Since then, my laptop has been performing pretty sub-par, at least compared to how it was/ should be. Things like lower frame rates (about 80 fps on games like minecraft, where before i could comfortably run them at a over 100) and on most games the display and audio would constantly stutter, making for an extremely annoying experience. Another thing is that windows seem to not update right, like It’d only update the areas I move my mouse over, though these happenings typically fix themselves or are easily fixed by minimising and reopening the window. Something pretty concerning happened today as well - the right of my screen flashed with blues and pinks for a couple moments before stopping. This laptop was a gift and it’s fairly new, I know these things don’t really have the option for swapping out parts and I’m asking if anyone knows what i could possibly do to fix this?

First thing I’d do would be to set up some monitoring software like HWinfo64 and check temps are ok.

I also learned the hard way not to let kids play on my stuff! okay, it was only an amiga mouse, but that was still £20 to replace.

This is why im the only one allowed on my PC - well apart from the other half but she uses her laptop more often than not.

A computer shop could take it apart and make sure all connections are secure. I would also run hardware monitoring software as others have suggested.

Buy a new one or take it to a service station and don't give it to your brother again, simple :)
