Do you bother with motherboard software

My drivers need that

Windows does not detect....

Windows into your lifestyle and internet habits. You’ve already paid for and installed the spyware long before you get to any motherboard packages.
I run Windows 10 with as much of the spyware striped out as humanly possible, But I get what your saying.

To really make a dent you have to tackle the host file and block about 6000 domains. Windows 11 is even worse.

I can’t wait to see what Microsoft come up with for Windows 12.

Drivers yes, BIOS only if needed. Anything else most likely not. Mobo manufacturer software has been pants and poorly coded most of the time. Pretty sure there was a driver for some extra MB software that allowed exploiting Windows to get admin access.

Literally got annoyed with the Gigabyte software not offering me BIOS updates yesterday and uninstalled the thing. I had chipset drivers selected out of the million options to download and nothing else.

Bios yes, chipset drivers yes, audio/ethernet/other: sometimes. I've had windows update install duff drivers for ethernet and audio typically have its own config software for speakers etc which is typically better than windows default offerings. Any other random crap they try to install: nope.

I just make sure the bios is up to date and then get the chipset drivers downloaded, Windows usually does everything else quite well.

You should neveer update the bios using windows based software anyway.

Upgrade BIOS before doing anything. Restore to factory defaults. Set RAM timings and boot order. Disable onboard components that I don't need (audio, SATA ports etc).

Install Windows
Install latest chipset driver
Install latest LAN drive from NIC manufacturer
Install GPU driver
Windows Update

I tried out Asus' Armoury Crate while building my current PC a few months ago and promptly did a clean install of Windows to get rid of it. It had a few useful things but the sheer amount of bloat, services and background processes was absolutely absurd. Instead I use SignalRGB and FanControl.
