Tending to be right.
Yes
No

Have a go hero on the train. Deserves a medal for his bravery and actions.

Yes, sounds like he was brave and did his best to protect passengers. I imagine his training was probably to run away and hide somewhere, but instead he stepped up. Sounds like he deserves a medal to me.

Are you suggesting British Rail teaches its workers to run away?

BBC are reporting that he has over 20 years with the railways.

Yes, hero. Did what any decent, brave person would do when seeing others in danger.

Right man at the wrong time, or right time, depending how you/he sees it.

I'm going to be deliberately cynical and say that he'll get the George Medal if he dies and the Kings Gallantry Medal if he lives.

A medal absolutely seems appropriate. Similar incidents have resulted in the award of the George Medal rather than the Cross but I'm not sure what the basis of deciding to give one or the other really is.

From the sounds of it two of the people on the train (staff member and passenger) absolutely deserve some sort of heroism medal..whatever that maybe.

Through their actions they both prevented a much worse outcome...that passenger got absolutely messed up and I beg to think the kind of injuries the staff member got.

If millionaire TV celebrity David Beckham can get a knighthood for doing a job he loved and made him famous, then I hope Samir Zitouni can at least get a knighthood for putting himself in harms way to protect others. The same for any others who helped.
