Been curious about 3d printing and from what I've been reading the P1S seems to have a lot of praise. How easy is it to get started? How much are filaments? Was thinking the kids will be excited. What do you lot print?

Is £479 for P1S AMS a good price?

It’s a great printer especially with AMS and at that price. I bought the same a few months back and paid about £650 for it and thought that was a good price. It’s a very good beginners printer and very easy to use.

I've had mine for a while now and was my first 3D printer. Works out the box and has been faultless so far. £479 for the AMS combo is a great price and at this price point I doubt you will beat the performance with another make/model.

It's an utter workhorse.

I've been using our P1S/AMS at work since April and it has yet to even mess up a single print, it's just been solid and reliable. So much so that I bought the same setup for home use (£599) and have yet to have an issue.

So yesterday I bought a 2nd P1S/AMS combo in the sale for work use as everyone keeps printing their own stuff on it and not work related things!

I bought only the P1S last Friday as I only intend to print in one colour.

Never used a 3d printer, used CAD software or a slicing program before. Buying the P1S was the easy bit, no different than buying a laser or ink jet printer. Using Tinkercad to cut shapes how I want them for a model took a couple of hours practice but soon got the hang of it. The Bamboo slicer is easy to use, watch a 10min video on YouTube to get you started so you understand how to add supports or spin the model so less supports needed.

Basically it is all easy to use, if you're not making your own models, there are lots of things to print off thingiverse.

I'd say the only area where you want to do some reading is the handling of filaments, the drying and storing of them etc....

I use mine to make interior car parts and enclosures for electronics, it's been brilliant as I can now finish projects properly that have been sitting on the back burner unfinished.

Ordered the standalone P1S myself tonight. Also ordered some Sunlu filament to get started.

Was pondering the AMS too but figured since I was just starting out, I can get that later if I think I'll need it.

The P1S is great, only downside for me is the old system for changing the nozzle makes it a bit more of a faff for clearing clogs and stuff. Amazing value compared to a year ago

Currently have an A1 but was looking at the P1S due to its price in the sale and then having the option to print ABS etc.
Also seems there's now a P2S, is that much of an improvement over the P1S?

The P1S is a bargain at the moment, I got the P2S. It’s got lots of little improvements but it really depends on budget if you want to spend the extra
