Hey all,.

Looking into this PSU, wondered if it's a good PSU, won't be running any latest dodgy connector GPUs so happy it's not ATX 3.xx etc..

Any feedback greatly appreciated :)

I've checked the SPL tier list (Seems to be the one to check a PSU against these days) It's an older model based on the equivalent Seasonic Prime PSU.
Nothing wrong with it apart from the fact its not the latest ATX spec. A- rated on said tier list.

Wouldn't you be better off buying the HCG Pro? They're widely available, derived from Seasonic's Vertex. You don't have to use the 16 pin on the ATX 3.x PSUs, they still come with the old connectors.

I would love to have one of the new HCG Pros but I found the PSU for £100 so thought it looked a good deal?

Used PSUs always a personal thing, but if it was me, I'd have looked for a deal. E.g. NZXT C1200 is on offer a good price (a few tenners more).
I had a look at the NZXT C1200 and I found a load of reports of blown PSUs for that model, so was a little worried?

It seems that the ATX 3.0 model has a lot of issues, the ATX 3.1 seems ok so far? Though that's more money again (£160?)

The platform used in the 3.0 model is used in a whole bunch of other PSUs and they're a huge OEM, so I'd have thought that there would be A LOT of popped PSUs across multiple brands (if there was a general issue)? But yeah, those threads don't make comfy reading.

I'd just go back to the HCG Pro if I was paying that kind of money.

Yeah I've also been looking at the Corsair HX1200i ATX v3.1 (2025) but that's £260!

I think for the moment I'll see what this Antec brings, any issues it'll go right back and I'll buy something new.

Something to remember is that warranties on any components are rarely transferable and are only for the original purchaser. Just because you have the original sales slip doesn't mean you are covered. It's not your name and address on the slip and it's not been paid for by your card either and that is important because in the event that they do accept a warranty repair any refund will be made to the original card.

Tom's hardware reviewed this psu in 2020 and it wasn't all roses. They found it to be noisy over 600w load, only 18awg wires on the EPS and PCI-e cables (should be 16awg ideally), short distance between drive connectors and EPS and PCI-e cables could be longer. Personally I would avoid it and £100 seems far too much for a used psu that could be up to 5 years old.
