5800x bottleneck for 5070 ti

How do I check if it's set to x16? It's in the top slot in mobo if thats what u mean. and i dont have any useless programs or startup programs. only thing i use is logitiech hub for mouse settings.
You can check in bios on Hw info will tell you. Bios up to date and chipset drivers ?

It can't be a bottleneck, look at the YouTube link I posted a few pages back.

I'd personally reinstall Windows at this point and just start from scratch, it's either a software/driver conflict or a GPU issue but upgrading your mobo/CPU/memory won't fix this.

Turn on the 'advanced' setting for 'performance overlay' and monitor your CPU and GPU times while playing, the numbers are 'time to render' frames in milliseconds. the one with the largest number is your bottleneck but it can only really be considered a 'bottleneck' if you're seeing frequent spikes and dips in performance and one of the 2 numbers is significantly higher than the other.

Ideally, the CPU and GPU plots should overlay each other tightly and the render times should be similar.

I'm away to stick my AM4 setup up for sale in the coming week or so. I've purchased a 9700X off a member on here so looks like I'm hoping on the AM5 wagon.
from what i gather now is a fairly good time to sell am4 and go am5
then again the people who give me that impression always think upgrades are a good idea lol so take that with a pinch of salt
im hoping it holds for acouple of months as im almost ready to go am5 in a couple of months time also lol

That's what has got me looking at it. If I can sell for what the last bundle went for, I think the full swap of CPU, motherboard and 6000mhz c28 RAM will set me back £140 or so.

I also have a 5800x. I don't feel the need to upgrade yet as I don't play any competitive games, but at the moment I'd probably go for a 7700/7700x. 9000 series didn't provide much of a bump over 7000.

@Samhfx I've been reading there is also a 7500X3D and 7600X3D budget options appearing if you are still toying with the idea of an AM5 switcheroo.
You may want to look at getting RAM soon as prices are expected to keep going up due to AI.

Hey, I'm just in the process of saving money for the AM5 jump. I think I'll have the funds for the upgrade in about 4-5 weeks from now. Do you mean AM5 RAM? You think I should buy a kit this week or it's ok to wait?

It's hard to say, I think our friends over the pond are seeing ram prices double already...

I got some B grade Kingston fury CL30 ram 32gig ddr5 for £112 the same kit new on here is £180 so I'd say look for deals or get something quick before pricing gets worse.
Agreed, also @Samhfx if it's just 2x16gb you are after, I went with Klevv Cras 5 which is Hynix a die and Cl28 goodness. Was only about £112 delivered same day.

Prices are expected to keep going up for a year+

I don't really know much about RAM but I assume it's one of the very few components you can cheap out on and not lose performance, right?

The sweet spot is 6000 CL30 however, if you can get better timings, for cheaper, it's always worth a shot. It's not as critical on an X3D chip though.
