DRAM Prices Surge 172% YoY with No Signs of Slowing Down

Say if you had 6 spare DDR5 Ram kits to sell (2x16GB 6400Mhz 2 Sets. 2x16GB 7600Mhz 1 Set. 2x24GB 8000Mhz 1 Set. 2x32GB 5600Mhz with custom heat spreaders 1 Set. 2x16GB LPDDR5 5600Mhz 1 Set.) Would it be wise to sell it now, wait till next month just before Christmas or wait till after Christmas. If you're wondering why I have so many, I've bought them over the years to try out and could not been arsed to sell them. My laziness has paid off (this time).
Do what some other fellow posters have done is sell or scalp GPU'S memory while bragging that ones a baller and how much money ones made but then relentlessly complain about the pricing of GPU's memory and blame it on Nvidia insert evil memory company here.

Just ordered 48GB for £230, should be able to sell the 32GB kit for £200+ soon enough, so pretty much a free upgrade

We ballin' out here

What I don’t understand is not all ddr5 ram has increased in the same way.

When I was deciding between intel or amd recently I had some CUDIMM 8400 in the basket and that’s only gone up by about £40.

The 6000mhz ram has more than doubled!

The only other difference other than speed was 32gb modules (64GB kit) as opposed to 24gb (48gb kit) so maybe it’s that…

I believe this will seriously put people off upgrading platforms and potentially push am5 and core ultra pricing down the way. If I was looking to upgrade an am4 platform I'd be thinking again and looking for an x3d chip even though they'll be getting scalped even more now.

Iv just got some laptop ram, its nearly doubled in price since i looked 2-3 weeks back. I have got it now before i buy the system as im so worried that it will go up in price a lot next month when i get an MS 01.

Just need to see if nvme drives go up massivly as well.

Good news might be that is makes it even more likely that Zen7 will be on AM5.

Certainly most estimates are DDR6 won't be consumer friendly before 2029 or so. While certain servers may use DDR6 by end of 2026/early 2027, the far more price-sensitive consumer stuff is unlikely too. Zen4 and AM5's adaption already suffered from DDR5 costing more at the time while Intel had a dual DDR4/5 platform.

Prices have gone insane, last May I paid £269.99 for 2x 32GB Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 6000 30-36-36-76. Same sticks now cost £459.99 where I bought it, or £499.99 on here. At this rate the 6090 is going to be a minimum of £2.5k £3k.

Upgrading yes if coming from a DDR4 setup but the real problem is for people who do not have existing PC kit and who build from new and also those who just buy pre builds from retailers like Over clockers. There is still old stock left but most of that will be gone by Christmas / January after that cost increases will start to hit hard where DDR memory and Gpu`s come into play not good for anybody it will hit sales across the board. The one area where things should improve if you are not looking for a Gpu is Integrated Graphics AMD is on to a winner here.

So I had a rush of blood to the head a while ago and purchased a used kit of TeamGroup Xtreem 8000CL38 for £100 on the members market.

Lucky me. I see that that kit is now a bit more expensive than before.

Now all I need is a machine to put it into.

I sold a 64gb cl30 kit for £130 and an 32gb cl30 kit for £80 within the last couple of months :(
