What "man jobs" have you done today?

Tried to pull a cable through from the back bedroom to the socket below in a steel beam, couldn't shift it. So just put a jointer to go under the floor and pull the other end into the new socket in the bedroom. Next job will be fill the cavity with the cable in with rockwool insulation and fix the Recticel insulation onto the wall.

You've been on fire this week, going to need to take Dec as a rest month

I really need to clean the oven but it’s a hateful job!
Best advice I can give for an easy peasy clean.

Get a can of standard oven cleaner, e.g. Mr Muscle, spray the surface you want to clean, then layer cling film on top, leave to soak for a few hours. Come back and the grease will just wipe off.

The cling film stops the active chemicals from evaporating and forces them in contact with the grease and dissolves it.

Since I've used this method I use less chemicals and also don't mind cleaning the oven. You can also do the same with the shelves but layer a sheet of film down first, spray chemical then layer film on top, just don't leave it on a work surface etc.

Enjoy a nice clean over with minimal effort. :)

Intersting. I will give it a try!

"Carefully dismantled" the girls' wardrobe (IKEA Pax) - it was on it's last legs anyway, after 6 kids played hide'n'squeak* in it all summer.

"Carefully" quickly became a crowbar and a lump hammer to the backboard, then knocking the sides out from the inside.

Loaded it into the car for a trip to the tip, which ruined me for the rest of the day.

(*6 kids on the spectrum who couldn't be quiet if their lives depended on it. If we ever get a Last of Us type apocalypse, the Wife's on her own...)

Remove inside metalwork. Press Press, Select Pyro mode, place the extractor fan in the kitchen on full. Close door. Carry on. Comeback and wipe off the cremated dust.

The dishwasher does a decent job on the metal work but if you want to remove the stains then more caustic cleaner is needed.

Dismantled the built in units in my office. They look like they’ve been in since the house was built so about 20ish years. Fairly tatty and drawers/doors not quite working properly.

Redecorated, laid new floor, ready for new furniture.
Main benefit now is instead of four bedrooms plus an office it’s five bedrooms, with one being used as an office. Just more flexible if we decide to sell.

Made a circle cut jig for the router and routed down the outer and mid circle for the dining table, then ripped down more wood and glued up the inner circle and shelf for under the top. I’m currently working out how to cut out a circle in a slate slab. I thinking of some sort of jig involving an angle grinder. What the best app for pics now that imgur is gone?

Just added a SwitchBot Lock Ultra Vision to the house, works well and does seem like the furutre we were promised but I'm not 100% sure I trust it just yet.

Put Christmas lights on the front of the house. They're five years old, but worked when I tested them before putting them up.

Once I put them up, they no longer worked :(

Oh well, they had a good innings, so ordered another set from screwfix.
