Hi Everyone,

So Iv been looking for a new monitor.
Ideally I want an UW, now iv been looking around and trying to see and everything seems to point towards getting an OLED.

My issue and concern with this is the following:
1 - I use my machine for work too, which means there is often going to be static images on the monitor and I predominantly work from home using the monitor.
2 - I also play a lot of ARPGs and a fair bit of Dota, so my concern here is the static HUD elements on the monitor.

The next thing I looked for here was a Mini-LED, which apparently can be a bit of a pain because of the backlight bleed.
Also, Mini-LED seems to be far and few between for UW and almost immediately jumps to 4K.

Current GPU: RTX3080 + 5900X - I am planning to upgrade the GPU, just waiting on the next refresh of GPUs.
So I don't mind loosing some perf while waiting.

I'm just scared the 4K jump is going to hurt.

Ideally if anyone has some feedback with the same and concerns for burn-in.
Or some recommendations, currently looking at the following monitors - OLED:

Dell Alienware - AW3425DW
ACON AOC - AG346UCD
Or Philips Evnia 34 UWQHD

Budget at a stretch would be £700.

Thanks!

IPS and VA both have their own drawbacks

Both types- not true black, blacks are near black/very dark grey. My VA isn't bad for blacks, but it's way off the OLED and behind my plasma.
IPS- IPS glow
VA- smearing in near black scenes, and colour changes on the extreme sides (curved will help)
Also edge lit is generally bad.

That's why I'm going OLED.

Is there any reason you cannot have two monitors? One for work and one for gaming?

Don't be afraid. I've been gaming at 4k since I got a GTX 780 Ti. Any game can bring any resolution to its knees if it tries e.g. Black Myth Wukong's benchmarking tool will only manage 60 fps at 1080p on my RTX 4090 at cinematic settings (no DLSS).

Mainly just desk space and how its setup.
I wouldnt be able to move my stuff around with impacting how my whole setup works.

Unless you referring to completely removing and connecting monitors daily when i switch between, which tbh, sounds horrid!

Have the original dell 34dw - friend recently bought the AOC and at the current prices I'd go for the AOC.

It looked good, was very bright / vivid out of the box - needed a little turning down.
