Hello

I have three ASUS H610i-Plus-D4 motherboards two have an i3 in them as they are just HTPC's the other my workstation/limited gamer has an i5-12400 in it.
I need a few more MIPs in the i5-12400 system so i upgraded it to an i7-12700.
And it works just fine, runs all day without a hitch and passes 95% CPU at 58c running Prime95 torture test, so system is solid with 300watt PSU.

However from Cold Sleep in a morning when mancave is bit chilly the now i7-12700 system won't POST on the first attempt.
Hold the power button to force it to shutdown and press power on again and system POST's and boots Win11 just fine.
Looking at the ASUS Q LED's this i7 system passes CPU/Red Led and RAM/Yellow Led.
But on the failing 1st POST does not light the White Video Seek Led so i guess it is hanging in the PCIe checking maze somewhere.
Now I have tried this i7 in two of my H610i-Plus-D4 board and three different power supplies including an OCZ 600Watt which is way too much for this little system.

I have posted to this forum as I don't do much BIOS tweaking, i just tweak the Video RAM size and SATA hot swap etc.
So I am very stuck when it come to tweaking other aspect of the BIOS.
Hence as I guess there are serious OverClocker on this forum someone might know what to look at and tweak please.

Lastly these three systems all POST/Boot perfectly hot or cold with the i3 and i5 in them so this is a very i7 issues any thoughts please
Many thanks in advance imk

So, to confirm, you have upgraded an I5 system to an I7 and this is the 1 having issues?

If you put the I5 back in does it boot without the issue?

Have you checked the I7 for any dirty pads on the bottom of the CPU? is the bios fully up to date?

Yes have swapped i5 for i7 and back and back again several times and i7 into other motherboard and always same problem over about a week of trial and error testing.
Cleaned pads with isopropanol a Q-tip, reseated RAM, cleared CMOS, upgraded to latest BIOS 3801 and tried i7 in other motherboard with original 3401 BIOS.
Been at it for about a week trying various configurations and always same problem needs Dual Power to get it going from cold but when up and running will run all day.
i3 and i5 work fine in both motherboards with 3 different PSU,s but i7 won't 1st cold boot in either. Me think this is flaky i7-12700

I would agree to it being the I7, was it 1 you got 2nd hand or was it new?

Came off ebay New opened never used, showed no sign of it being fitted to either top can or pads.
Which makes me think it was never used. Basically this i7 is rock solid runs all day and never crashes, runs FlghtSim and runs Prime95 torture test all cores ~95% CPU at 60c under an Intel RH1 cooler.
So it is in thoses respect perfect, it just doesn't like morning :-)
Hence my question to the tweaker community, anyone have a BIOS tweak that might make it morning frendly.

probably not much help but i fully empathise with your i7
ive been up several hours and im still struggling to boot up myself
If ASUS check the Q-LED's good clue into what is going on. Not sure about other MB makes but would guess they have similar

no i was joking i meant it was so cold this morning that im struggling to function lol
my computer is working fine
well compared to normal lol its me thats the problem this morning not my pc lol

Cooler been reseated half a dozen times as swap the i7 and i5 in testing.
This is BIOS tweak time, but my deep tweaking skills are low

The thing isd that is sounds like one or more of the pins in the CPU socket aren't making contact until they have warmed up, so a little bit of extra pressure, pushing the CPU just that bit closer, might do the trick.

My initial thoughts as well but two motherboards with same problem, i think odds are against it.

Is it possible for you to test the 12700 in a different make motherboard from the Asus' that you have. That way you can definitely pin it down to either a CPU or motherboard issue.

I wish I could but all i have are three ASUS 610i-Plus-D4 LGA1700 motherboards, guess i am going to go BIOS digging to find its sweat spot
