The nervous wait to exchange....

We have had loads of docs/report back from solicitors now. One of note is this map of the waste water set up.

Looks like the red poo poo pipe goes through our boundary/garden (81). Looks like it serves 2 houses behind ours, then ours and our to the main stretch.

The man hole covers are one in the parking area, and another on the road outside our garden wall.

Am I silly to find issue with this? Obviously not ideal but I'm guessing it's fairly common and a non issue really.

Any issue with the drains would be the responsibility of the water company anyway I imagine. I guess it just means if there is ever an issue, they would need access etc and can't build above it etc (we have no intention of such work)

Map in spoiler tag

Funnily enough, out current neighbours are selling too and have just bought 73! I jokingly told them no curry nights going forward ;)
A lot of builds have shared pipework, we do with our neighbours either side of us, they both flow towards our property and then exit to the main drain. If there's every any issue or back up in the system (one neighbour has a large family and aren't the cleanest in the world, so I expect all sorts of crap being flushed away) then it's down to the water company to come and fix.

At least with older builds they tended not to put foul drain runs under properties. We had a house built in 2003 where a foul drain run ran through the property and had been inexpertly sealed after a misplaced connection to a cloakroom ended up in the kitchen.

Thanks all

Yeah I'm confident if there's ever any issue, we won't need to worry.

Just never thought about it until now. Hopefully it doesn't get.. stinky

Should be fine. Only serves one or 2 other properties and apparently hasn't had any issues since being built, or so their solicitor says

I guess doing a patio would be allowed, but at the risk that it may need to be dug up if something happens

You can do anything you like, you just need approval from the water company. We’ve done similar and had rodding points installed away from the extension which went over the top of the sewers.
