Winter 2025/2026 - Cold or Mild?

Set the heating to 17C with 18.5C morning and evenings for two or three hours.
We don't use auto timing, we just ramp up the thermostat to start the boiler or down to stop it.

2C here all day.. That's cold for November. But as you said it feels sooo much colder ( that wind )

Yeh, a lot of people don't realise you feel the cold more the older you get.
 
Last few ECM 10hpa zonal mean wind runs don't fill me with confidence, neither does the GEFS mean at 10hpa.

Concerned that we will get stuck in a pattern of atlantic ridge or NAO+ which would keep the water companies happy!
 
Well a few guru's are expecting atleast 2 weeks of Zonal weather. Don't expect any harsh cold again for awhile now!

I only understand it at a superficial level and/or from seeing how it unfolded in the past - but still looks like a lot going on there to me (maybe not an immediate response but a lot of potential). I'm tentatively interested in the Christmas period now - it looks like the effects of the MJO, etc. will likely start to come into play on our weather around mid to late December.

With the jet back across us for the next couple of weeks I can't see anything but zonal weather in the interim though once this cold falls away.

The first models are starting to show the split and possible scandi high!

Finish Midday on Fridays so down to the beach near where I work again, lovely change from the cold and wet stuff
