DRAM Prices Surge 172% YoY with No Signs of Slowing Down

I'm looking at building a couple of systems i have the RAM already thankfully I'm tempted to hold out to see if boards and CPUs drop a bit as it's bound to be slowing sales for those.

Nope all sales are up and AMD’s CPU BF offers went live at 4pm today for BF.

For ourselves every category is up even RAM with the crazy price increases.

I can see a point later on in 2026 due to shortage manufacturers will start using substandard parts on the Dimms which will not hit the frequency or cas timings and chips failing due to higher voltages being used to get them to work at the specified timings / frequencies. Reminds me of DDR3 there were a lot of bad sticks back then.

Every little helps!

However, searching gets me that Nanya currently have 94,000 wafer starts per month. Their new DDR5-capable fab well eventually have - once phase 3 is completed - add 45,000 wafer starts.

A second search says Nanya currently have about 1% of the market.

Therefore, even once that new fab is fully running, they will have less than 2% marketshare.

Like I said, every little helps but to actually make a real difference one of the three big players would have to increase production.

I'm sure eventually the three will build more capacity but they are all enjoying huge margins ATM. And all three have been seriously burned in the past with huge losses from excess capacity.

this is just a temporary situation

like all goods, Console releases GPU releases ect, they jump up in price, give it till Q2 next year, which isnt far off, manufacturers will up the levels, AI will stabilise and RAM prices will come down

And its only hitting DDR5
Did you miss the bit where Hynix and Samsung are supplying a huge amount for the foreseeable for the Stargate project. This could have a knock on effect for a long time.

Prices on my RAM have skyrocketed again. That RAM I paid £269 for corsair dominator platinum ddr5 6000 64gb (2x32GB) around May 2024, same sticks are now £775 and were even £500 just a week or so ago, WTF!, prices are now obscene even for just 32GB. If GPUs went up as fast as RAM, a 5090 aftermarket would be around £10k by now.

This is not sustainable, RAM market is going to dead at this rate.

Decided to put off my upgrade because it's just not worth it at the moment. 64GB kits approaching £400 is silly.

AMD raiding GPU prices due to higher memory costs

Indeed, mentioned this couple weeks ago and OcUK now has the lowest ever prices ever seen on AMD GPU's, we are also cheapest in the UK, absolutely embarrassing our competition:

AMD GPU's Lowest Ever Prices - BE QUICK PRICES SHALL BE GOING UP!

Pulled of some epic deals which I brung into stock last month before price increases, for example my cost on a 9060 XT 16G is now around $20 higher and 9070 XT's are over $30 higher and another price increase is expected in December.

As such expect the £299 9060 XT to increase to £329-£339 in next couple of days and expect the £539 9070 XT's to increase to around £579-£599 as once we sell the deal stock and pull the promotional funding these prices will no doubt not be possible again for a very long time if ever.

NOW is the time to buy that AMD GPU !

'Other GPU manufacturers are available' :D

Point is prices are on the up, yet at OcUK AMD GPU's are cheapest we have ever seen, 9060 XT for £299, 9070 for £459 and 9070 XT at £539, all in stock and will be delivered this week.

I'd say anyone thinking of buying ONLY has around 48hrs to do so before our deal stock has sold out.
