On the road....
Just got back from a lovely 11 day break in Alanya, Antalya Provence, Turkey.

Noticed quite a few interesting cars whilst exploring, Ferraris, Porsches, a Bugatti Chiron (!) even a LHD Sierra Cosworth!

The thing that stood out the most as the number of RHD Land Rover Discoveries and Range Rovers all wearing Turkish plates...

Now why would this be I ask myself? - in a country where everything is LHD, why would there be a noticeable number of RHD JLR products running around there on Turkish plates?

I know JLR products are supposedly easy to steal, have I discovered where they perhaps end up?

Wouldn't suprise me. It's gone in 6 seconds with those.

It's quite well known that many ended up in Eastern Europe and Russia. So are probably around Turkey as well.

Does happen a lot - but the second hand market in Europe (and periphery) tends to be much more expensive than in the UK - in some cases it is worth people buying them to sell in Europe, especially stuff like RRs. Even RHD cars.

My money would be that it's somehow related to Turkey's link to Cyprus, where they drive on the left.
I can see that although why would the RHD vehicles I've seen all be JLR products, whilst in my own admittedly unscientific survey, I didn't see an RHD car of any other brand?

Went to Antalya in August. Didn't notice any such common place Land Rovers or luxury cars and I drove myself one day as well. The roads were pretty hostile in rush hour I found.

I'm just one of these weirdo's who when on holiday tends to clock the cars around me rather than the historic scenery or whatever I suppose...

Drives my other half mad, then again I prefer it to browsing fake handbags and trainers... :D

Wasn't there some European politician who was found to be driving around in a stolen UK registered car? Can't find the story now.

There is this from a year ago:

Don't even need a relay etc anymore. They are now hacking the cars directly with a laptop. It shouldn't even be possible to do that, but that's how pathetic the security is.
