The Radeon RX9070XT / RX9070 Owners Thread

I called OC this morning and they informed me that testing in another machine would probably not have positive results and that I should just return the card. I appreciate the offer.

Yeah, I am going to return the card after speaking to OC staff. I may try another card once I return this one however my model is no longer available. it is unfortunate as the Pure is the nicest card I have ever had, it is a beautiful piece.
No problem, I hope you get it sorted soon enough!

I replaced my wife's Powercolor 6900XTU with a 9070xt Nitro+. The 9070XT suffers from coil whine that is much more noticeable than the 6900XT. I've UV it and capped FPS to 144 and that had made a big difference. Uncapped it's really quite bad. In comparison my 5090 is pretty much silent.
Must just be bad luck as I've not heard a single squeak out of my 9070XT Nitro+ since installing last month.

Luck of the draw unfortunately. I have had a few sapphires and they have been fine. Good luck with the replacement.

Just installed my 9070xt sapphire pusle. Seem lucky so far no coil whine etc. ran into an issue ive read about and suffered the same on my old 1080ti. Which is multi monitor shenanigans. or at least im presuming its that.

I have a 3440x1440 ultrawide at 165hz as main monitor and 2560x1440 monitor at (60 or 75hz) as second monitor. This seems to keep the memory clock speed near pinned at 2505mhz and doesnt downclock even at idle desktop. Tried enabling/disabling VRR through Adrenaline (already off in windows display settings) but nothing seems to get it to downclock. Anyone any ideas?

This is with some chrome tabs open on 1 monitor and youtube video on the second monitor,

Does the gpu clock speed also seem high in this scenario?
yeah ive got the same issue so do a few others
i also find it funny that several people keep saying its an amd problem id never have on nvidia
which must mean my nvidia quaddro and my 3060 were both not nvidia then as they both had the exact same issue
im about to finally get around it by upgrading to am5 with an igpu to run the extra monitor [and a second gpu but that idea seems to have been killed by drivers before i evne managed to get it installed lol]

I am about to pull my card out however I have checked my readings and my clock speeds are normal with an idle desktop, even with twitch on 1 monitor it is not pegged. My main monitor is 34" UW at 120hz, second monitor is a 27" 144.

Unfortunately there are no other Pure GPU left. If I get another it will have to be another brand unless I also fork out cash for a new PSU and get the Nitro

Do FSR3 settings for games which support FSR4 override carry over? e.g. in Space Marine if I select performance or ultraperformance FSR and it's overridden in Adrenaline, am I getting FSR4 performance mode?

The whole FSR4 thing seems really quite messy. Optiscaler is nice but more hassle than I'd like. Not sure why more devs aren't supporting FSR4 out of the box?

Yes, afaik the game will effectively output say 'FSR3 Performance', so that resolution etc but the driver will intercept that and use the FSR4 code path to do the actual upscale to the final output.
Basically how Optiscaler works, it takes the input from what ever the game is outputting and then passes those inputs to the chosen output scaler.

with my 1080ti it was the GPU core clock speed which wouldnt down clock causing high power usage. i got around this with nvidia inspector and the multi-display power saver. so its real enough someone created a solution for it.

I dont know if an AMD solution exists

Hi guys/gals. I finally bit the bullet a few days ago and ordered a 9070 from OcUK which arrived today. I useed DDU to uninstall nvidia drivers, installed the card and then the AMD drivers. Is there any other settings I need to change? It's all foreign after using nvidia cards for so long.

Undervolt
Set target framerate to just under monitor.

In games or in the drivers? I let Bf6 do the auto setup thing and it set the gfx settings up but it was only using 8gb video memory? Is there no best settings thing in the driver app like on nvidia?

Have a quick Google of your particular card and undervolting. There’ll be a plethora of guides and YouTube videos. It’s quite easy, especially following a quick YouTube guide.

Sad Boi is back again, fitted the new PSU today, which was an utter arsing about match, but all is done, I unfortunately have the exact same 'hang' and die error in Bg3 and FO4.

RMA card? Or any other suggestions before i do so?

update so far. i set both monitors "variable refresh rate" to on in the windows displays settings and restarted as someone mentioned on this thread way back when. now the GPU clock speed is down. with 10 chrome tabs open and youtue running. the clock speed bounces around anywhere up to 100Mhz which seems about right. Memory is still nearly maxed out though. memory clock speed still from 2200-2505 mhz. presuming this is what is causing the bulk of the 40-50w total board power
