Black friday shopping list

Victorinox professional 7 kitchen knife set
2x 3m Hue light strips
Makita compounding mitre saw
Startech 4 post open frame 25u rack
Rangemaster 90cm cooker hood

Not massive reductions but all products cheaper than i've seen.

Finally got my camera upgrade, bought brand spanking and £150 cheaper than yesterday. Still more money than id want but ive not seen it any cheaper in two years..

Which camera did you buy ?

I keep thinking of upgrading my old Sony RX100M2 camera but feel I no use my sony camera enough to be splashing out on a new one.
As I just use my mobile phone 95% of the time

I'm aware that Dewalt, Milwaukee and Makita are all popular, but I don't know whether one stands out above the rest or it comes down to personal preference. I'm happy to spend a bit of money to get something that will last.
I wouldn't worry about all the memes. Ryobi get dunked on but are the same company as Milwaukee.

Just pick a system and run with it. If you're a casual user you're unlikely to run into any issues with any of them. If you're a professional user, you're more likely to go with whatever gets stocked at your nearest merchant

With the prices of storage going mental I've decided to not buy extra storage for the plex server.

Instead I had a spare 3TB external drive I shucked and put in, hopefully this will last awhile and allow the HDD prices to settle back down.

In the mean time I got my son an Apple iPad Air 13" 256Gb storage for £770 (£900 directly from Apple) This is a Christmas present as is Samsung Galaxy Tab is getting on a bit now

Bought some discounted Senheisser HD599SE headphones for the PC, to replace a very, very worn and shabby set of HD598SR's that I've replaced parts on several times.

Has anyone had any luck with the John Lewis Pixel 10 offer with the £300 extra iPhone trade in deal? I traded an iPhone 7 in and have received the trade in value but I'm waiting for the extra £300 offer, I don't want to open the Pixel until I get it just in case they mess around with the offer and I need to return it.

New Dishwasher. Coming tomorrow.

Also want to get myself a Steelseries Apex 3 Pro keyboard as I have the v2 but the wife likes it so I said she could have it if I get an upgrade to mine. :D

Worth it? Ive also looked at 650s but I think the 598s are great.

Picked up a UPS for my small server... have been running bare for the last few months since that last one emitted too much magic smoke and with winter coming we have more chance of a grid event.
Not much of a saving, but cheapest price since 2023.

We should rename it Fake Friday as most of the savings are virtual.

That’s a good shout. We have terrible cutouts here, been 6 since September and I really should invest in one.

Any recommendations for make for a high end system?

It's a mine field as vendors offer anything from basic to high end. Generally they will all do the job, more expensive units tend to be more efficient which can make a difference 24/7. My old UPS took 25W in pass through... Which is £50 a year.

I stick to APC or Cyber power but as my server is only 50W even a basic unit will run for 10 mins and trigger a graceful shutdown to protect disk integrity.
