How far prior to departing for a holiday do you pack?

I find it interesting that people are able to pack so far in advance. Does everyone take different clothes on trips than they wear day to day? (I know someone above said they buy 2 of everything for this reason! )

Owning more than one pair of pants doesn't seem that extravagant to me.

Well, that doesn't really answer the question does it? Unless literally you're saying you have two pairs of kecks. One you wear at home and one you wear on holiday? Kinda gross...

Recent trip. Packed my bag in the morning.

Forgot my bag.

Luckily I was only going to Leeds this time :D

Real answer is the day before though. After a fresh wash load is all sorted.

Wife. Ready to go at all times. I’m pretty sure she buys everything in duplicate. One in the wardrobe, one in a flight case.

Me. About 12 hours before. Wife has usually got a good 80% done for me.

I think about it for a week before but mostly the day or a few hours before leaving.....
Wife is a serial list writer.
Everything is on it beyond belief lol

I have a list I go through 30 mins before leaving:

Sunglasses
Glasses 1x
Phone
Headphones
Power Bank
Multi Charger
Shaver and charger
Pills
Hat
Walking Stick
Quick Charger

I have enough clothes for about 18 days so start 2-3 days before flying then my routine is
pack everything i need counting out each day
2 hours later unpack and repack counting again
next day unpack and repack counting again
then one final unpack and repack the night before...

I'm only OCD for packing for holidays, i just can't pack once

Depends on what kind of holiday it is mind - if I'm off hiking then I'm packing more walking trousers, etc. that I'm not using daily and less of my daily clothing. I've multiple sets of what I wear daily though - more than I'd rotate through normally. For example I have 4 of the jeans I wear daily and another 5-6 different styles if I feel like wearing something different and/or for a different setting i.e. if dressing up a bit for an occasion which isn't fully formal wear.

Not any more. Like many people I used to overpack and come home with unworn clothes and shoes in the case. If you are staying in a small hotel room things might be different, but we usually go for a large apartment where you can easily handwash and dry a few items each day (especially underwear). In a hot climate it dries quick enough on the balcony. Also I don't bother with any smart stuff unless I really think I'm going to need it. And don't forget to factor in that you will presumably be wearing a set of clean clothes (including jeans and trainers) when you travel!

So typically I find that for two week summer holiday I only need to pack something along the lines of:

Second pair of jeans
Second pair of trainers
Sandals
A week's worth of underwear
A few pairs of shorts
A few pairs of swimming trunks
Seven or eight T shirts.
Half a dozen sleeveless tops

I used to pack multiple pairs of jeans and some trousers, clean shirt for every day etc. But unless you are throwing food all over yourself, you really don't need to put on clean jeans every day if you are only wearing them for a few hours in the evening when you go out for a meal. Obviously different if you are wearing them during the day and actually getting dirty. But if you are slobbing around in the heat in shorts/swimming trunks and sandals...

If leaving early ie 4 or 5am then night before, however if 9 - 10am then I'll pack on the morning.

The wife however starts planning her packing about a week before
