Dying Light: The Beast

It is finally time to play it the way it's meant to be played

#RTON
Christmas came early!

Edit*

not a HUGE difference, RTGI does help but AO is still non RT and water reflections are still SSR............. So..... RTMeh for this one.

I'll be trying it tomorrow so we shall see then.

The opening forest area was awful for visuals, lack of shadows and ao

I'll be trying it when the price drops to sub £30. They got greedy with their asking price. Had they hit £35 on cdkeys i may have got it day 1. Now all excitement etc gone. So i am in no rush to play it. Probably grab it in summer sales :D

That's just RTGI, the reflections RT option has nothing to do with water reflections and that video shows no scene that has any body of water.

There is a huge difference :p

Also, there is some water comparisons in the video I linked. Like dying light 2, the reflections don't apply to large bodies of water though, only puddles etc.

And a couple other scenes.

3 seconds of a puddle is not "some" lol. The video thumbnail shows actual water, but that scene is not in the video. Clickbait thumbnail. My GIF above is an accurate representation of what reflections on water are like, and there is a lot of water to see at leats in the first half of the game so far as you explore.

RTGI is fine if we cherry pick specific areas that aren't representative of most of the game world like in the video, but it's silly to not have RT water too as nothing is more distracting in a game like this than massive amounts of transparency obfuscation of your weapon and hands around water.

You said:

When that is not the case for all, yes large bodies of water don't have RT reflections but small puddles i.e. water do. It's pretty much the exact same RT implementation as we had din dying light 2 over raster.

And I don't disagree on that, if it were my way, every game would be path tracing only now.

It's pretty clear that when I say water I mean large areas of water, a puddle is nonsense lol.
