BMW and M Power Owners

Just connected drive.

I am confused here.

Connected Drive is the name for the entire service, there are within that different elements some of which require a subscription and some of which do not.

If you don't have an active subscription to either map updates or one of the packs then you won't get any map updates. They are not free.

What is the issue you are having?

M2 Comp test drive in Manchester last week .... brilliant but reminded me of being stuck on 9 points 'for ever' with my E92 M3 .... so the pin wasn't pulled.
It felt every bit as maniac as the V8 btw ;)

I sold my M3 Competition XDrive about a week ago, after owning it from new for just over two years. It was a fantastic car and I really enjoyed the experience, so I’m glad I had it. That said, I’ve decided to be a bit more practical for now and focus on other priorities. With the weather not being ideal for driving at this time of year, I figured I’d miss it less if I parted with it now.

As for what’s next, I’m not entirely sure yet. I’ll probably look into something smaller but still fun—ideally with four doors and a decent-sized boot—sometime next year.

This isnt confusing! All of my connected drive functions are showing as not having an active subscription in the car. They are active in my app. I purchased a map update and that has failed to apply to the car but is again showing in the app.

It was confusing because you claimed to have a lifetime subscription which isn't possible for maps. Now you've clarified thet you have paid for the map updates subscription then your post makes sense.

Have you tried the update remote services option in settings? Ultimately though I think this is something that you're going to have to find someone sensible at BMW connected drive to resolve.

I never said I had a lifetime map subscription. I said my map update hadn't applied followed by and my connected drive is showing as expired even though it is lifetime.

I always find that around renewal time, there is a few days handover if you renew last second.

I only have idrive 6, so might be different on newer versions, but you can't see what services are subscribed to in the car. The individual services either work or they don't. Only the app/website have a record of what you have.

The M340i developed some eletrical gremlins after the last few cold nights we had, rear parking sensors stopped working and the radio restarts randomly... It's under BMW warranty, from what I'm reading the car can go to any BMW dealership for warranty?

My other question, when would it be the best time to get extended warranty? Now or towards the end of current warranty?

Correct, any dealer.

Is the battery dying? You can sometimes start experiencing weird issues when it is.

Cold weather are when battery/electrical problems start to rear their head. If its under warranty, yes, just take it in.

Not sure, haven't checked, I'm not in the UK at the moment.
You can only renew it when it is nearing the end of its term.
That's good to know, thanks!

That's the plan! :)

Just a word of warning - if it's a 12V battery issue it's unlikely to be covered as it's a serviceable item.

If they do diagnose it as that and it's not covered, you'll pay an hour of labour.

It literally comes up with a message saying its expired and a QR code to scan to resub. Well, it did. Today I no longer have the menu option in idrive but my maps have updated.

When you are back, scan it to be on the safe side
